Adam Kindness Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 aye thats me Hmmmm not too healthy ex-passenger side front disc. They were wrecked at my last knockhill outing, but i just thought they were warped. They were not cracked after that, but must have just put them over the edge on sunday with the cold 1/4mile braking.
johnnyr6 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Why did you change those discs? The other half looked fine....
imprezapete Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I got advice from a few people who all advised me against drilled discs and if going grooved go for no more that 12 grooves to keep the disc from lasting more than 5 secs with my driving []
Chris Reside Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 nice, looks very tidy wae spotless engine bay. so how did the sti manage to sneak into the 1st lot of pictures ? is it because its up for sale, i really like it in black but at the time i wis lookin to buy there were'nt any so i ended up wae a white one
Adam Kindness Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 that pics were taken back in Oct 2006. We took the impreza up to Aberdeen to pick the skyline up. Wasnt for sale then, only been put up for sale a few days ago.
Fee Posted May 4, 2007 Author Posted May 4, 2007 That is back from the garage now Rebuilt the bottom end Trust 87mm forged pistons polished the crank Nismo N1 bearings New little ends on rods Tomei Rod bolts Tomei metal headgasket Tomei sump baffle/plate/trap door Nismo uprated oil pump New turbo's - 2x Garret GT2860-5's The mocal cooler is in place but not plummed in. All run in now, and oil changed....ready to go on track. Booked up for May and July trackdays [] Got a tuition day booked for 21st May too....figure I should maybe learn to drive now that its a bit quicker...woulnd't want to ram it into the tyre wall....again!
fai17 Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Fee....What's it like with the new engine and turbo setup?
Fee Posted May 4, 2007 Author Posted May 4, 2007 I've only driven it last night and this morning.....Adam did the running in... Feels pretty quick though.....pretty stiff too! Adam's away offshore today though, so I've had to learn all about the EDFCs and the boost controller so that I can work it on track LOL Its bloomin loud!
Adam Kindness Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 here are some previews of the fuel system from RIPS in New Zealand... http://www.ripsltd.com Its not finished yet, will be stripped and polished up etc. Its runnign twin pumps good for 450bhp each.... I'm not going to be running them anywhere near max though.... just over kill really. The surge tank is to avoid any fuel surge issues and maybe enable the car to keep running on track properly under 1/2 tank full. I'm planning on getting a twin entry fuel rail, and using one of the HICAS oil lines as a return line.
col666 Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 When you next on track Fee? been watching the skylines progress through my lens and dying to see how it goes next time out! just watch out for the tyre walls!
Fee Posted May 15, 2007 Author Posted May 15, 2007 LOL! I've got a tuition day thing on Monday (21st) .... figured I may as well try it out on a quiet day and maybe even learn to drive properly! Then will be out for the SIDC day on the 26th. Two track days in one week....it'll be broken by the end of next weekend! LOL
spooks Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Looking good, you taking pax laps Fee and Adam? Looks a monster, and with the rebuild no doubt goes like a monster. Looking forward to seeing on track. Spooks
Fee Posted May 15, 2007 Author Posted May 15, 2007 It's more than likely that Adam will be offshore...so it'll just be me there. Passengers more than welcome...if you trust my driving!!! Also trying to organise another Crail track night for some time next month I think
Adam Kindness Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Its still a baby.... running 1.2bar (maybe just run 1.1 or even 1.0bar till you get used to it). No idea on the power its making.... maybe 470 flywheel, 400 whp dunno :/ Still think the dastek rollers underead it a fair bit when it was on.... 283 fly, 200whp If anybody is brave enough to go out as a pax can you please report how the car feels? Fee's about as descriptive as a slug 'How were the brake, Any fade' - Fee 'they were ok' 'How did it handle, any better than last time? Did you play with the torque controller' - Fee ' dont know, felt ok' The main parts i'm wanting to know about is handling.... Its had new discs, flexi lines, suspension since last outing. I think thats going to be way more noticable than the small power increase for now.
the squiggle Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Give me the keys for the weekend and i will give you a full and frank assessment of how she copes under all circumstances
