My mates evo has broken down

My m8 just bought an evo 6, yes i know he should have bought a scoob, but he widny listen[:(]

anyway it has broken down twice today and after a while of turning the ignition over it started and ran okay.

there is no ignition lights on at all when he continually tries to start it, though the engine / starter is turning over , then out of the blue after 10 - 20 mins when the key goes in and turns the ignition lights come on and it fires up . [8-)]

After starting it ran for 10mins and cut out again before he drove off, again no ignition lights and not starting.

any advise would be appreciated.

i have told him to take it to hypertech as they are usually reasonable with prices.

also, is it okay to tow a 4wd and more importantly okay for a scoob to tow and evo.  if so i will get some picts[:o]

I am no expert, but I was told you cant tow a scooby as it will feck the diff.  If this is true, then I assume the same counts for the evo.

Some more mechanically minded here might verify this.

i think (THINK) you can tow it on all 4 wheels, but not up on 2wheels as that will break the diff.

As for the car, possbly an alarm/imob problem?

I thought it might be an alarm / immobilizer problem too.

in saying that, i would have thought the ignition lights would still be on if the immobilizer was kicking in[8-)]

my dad has a recovery business, and he never tows a constant 4wd car, not worth brakin the diff, best gettin a flat bed. evo diffs aint cheap!!

Could also be a dodgy neutral/earth. Check the earth connections onto the bodywork and check the battery and fuse terminals ensurung all are secure.

I'd play safe with the flatbed

Cheers
