st3ph3n Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Never used the stuff before but would I be right in thinking that on a trackday or visit to crail etc. then adding some would be a decent idea? If so then what kind? Dastek have some good prices on them but I don't know if I need just the Octane Plus or if the CVL Turbo would be a better bet. OP is obviously cheaper and seems to just raise it by a couple of points which I imagine is what I need in my car (05 WRX with minor mods and not mapped to run funny fuel). Or should I just switch to Nitro methane? []
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Yes I would use it - better fuel means the car can work more safely and efficiently thus reduce chances of knock. You might see a slight performance gain but it's more for safetys sake. I would run it for a tank or two before the track day so that the ECU knows the score throughout the rev range. I use Millers OB... Cheers Cal
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Never seen that type of bottle before ? The stuff I buy ( 20 bottles at a time) looks like this :- CGS
st3ph3n Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 Looks like the same stuff. Will get some for the trackday and other spirited adventures.
dipsy Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Stephen thats the old lettered bottle .The Millers octane plus is safe for cars with cats .I use it all the time in the newage Jdm sti
RA Dunk Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 i use the same stuff as cal, drop wuz a pm he usually keeps the stuff in stock for a pretty good price []
fai17 Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Looks like the same stuff. Will get some for the trackday and other spirited adventures. How much for the stuff and do you want to do group buy for it?
kevin_rhind Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 You can get NOS octane booster racing formula it has an increase of 6 points per tank from Halfords or off Ebay £5 cheeper this is the s--t for Knockhill. Millers is good for every day use.
kevin_rhind Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 http://www.performance-oils.co.uk/1024x768/Home.htm Miller Octane Plus £2.97 for 250ml bottle. I got this link fron Bluethunder he's tight so it's probably about as cheep as you'll get. Ha ha.
st3ph3n Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 Peter, £27 + Vat for a case of 10 from Dastek. I'm only wanting it for peace of mind when the car's getting pushed, so you fancy halfing a box?
Hepy Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Before I got my P1 remapped I used NF (Nitrous Formula) It's supposed to be one of the better OB's .
craig mac Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 That is like 31 a box [] If you want a box i will take one to K/Hill for 30 notes i have PLENTY STOCK........ Craig
st3ph3n Posted September 29, 2006 Author Posted September 29, 2006 G'wan then Craig. I'll take a full box, and if Peter's wanting some too then I'll half mine if that's alright with him. ACTUALLY! I'd need to put it in before filling up surely? Which wouldn't help if I got it at Knockhill.
craig mac Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 True, well buy one bottle fae halfrauds or something and i will take a box down to you m8 Craig
st3ph3n Posted September 29, 2006 Author Posted September 29, 2006 I shall see what I can do and let you know if I'll be wanting the box.
fai17 Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I'll have one too[] What is it am i buying again?
scoobaroo Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Think i can get some Wynns octane booster which is better than the Miller octane booster as it treats a full tank per bottle against the Millers which only treats 20lts, meaning youd need at least 2 bottles. Raises Octane by 2 - 5 points [] Can get it for £3.00 p/btl If interested PM me and ill see what i can do i.e. quantity [] Heres a link to the stuff i use :- http://www.wynns.uk.com/contextra/document...e%20Booster.pdf Marty.
craig mac Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Marty The OB we are talking about treats a whole tank per bottle too chief[] And is 2 points and possibly more on a catless car[] Craig
craig mac Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 So do i hear 2 boxes for next saturday? Looks like the BHP Developments support service van will have to be booked up and taken down loaded with wheels tyres and Millers as well[] Craig
st3ph3n Posted September 29, 2006 Author Posted September 29, 2006 Is it 10 a box Craig? A spirited lap of Knockhill should be enough to mix it in with the V-Power, and I'm only wanting it for safety not performance so the ECU re-learning isn't really an issues (but it's almost instant on a blobeye anyway AFAIK). I might as well take a full box if you've got room.
craig mac Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Yes stephen 10 in a box No problem mate Craig
fai17 Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 10 in a box...1 per tank... How many boxes for a year then? Can you get CFS 10-60 oil and how much?
gogsie Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Craig, Fits is? You cutting Wuz's feet or is Wuz franchising [] I will take a box off you as well if you have enough. I get home on Friday the 6th at 11:00 so I will pick it up on the friday if that's OK save you taking it down it in the car.
