mctwistuk Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 After all that has gone on this year i am needing cheered up and so have decided to hit the credit card and let it do some cheering up for me. Am wanting to lower the car and am not sure what springs to get. I have read a lot of threads on here recommending Tein springs. What are everyones views. What springs should i go for. I don't want it to go to low as there are a lot of speedbumps at my work. Am also going to get the droplinks done as well. Pictures of before and after and comments on handling would be helpful. cheers
paulc555 Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Hi Not sure if your wanting to change the whole set up or just the springs but I can highly recommend the Tein basic damper kit. The standard sti shocks on mine were complete mince and in the end it was cheaper to replace with the tein complete kit than it was for sti shocks alone....really transformed the handling of the car....yes it is a stiffer, but not uncomfortably so.....the turn in is so precise you will find yourself doing roundabouts just for a laugh......car had eibach springs before so no point in showing you before and after shots as the car sits roughly the same..... as for the tein springs on there own...a lot of guys on here have them and think they are great...but Im sure they will be along when they get out of bed to answer... cheers Paul
thewelsho Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Have a look here mate. Got Teins fitted couple of months back (fantastic). complete with before and after pics and a wee review of the handling etc.
st3ph3n Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Tein springs for me too. Excellent performance and looks very aggressive now.
mctwistuk Posted September 23, 2006 Author Posted September 23, 2006 Thanks guys. think i will be going to hypertech soon to get the stuff done.
craigwrx Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Two of the most common options are either "Prodrive" or "Teins"Prodrive = Firmly sat in the middle between comfort and handling, will also lower the car by around 25mmTeins = More for the enthusiast driver, giving and much better handling car, will also lower the car by around 35mm. Downside is it will give you a firmer ride than what "Prodrive" springs would ...Personally i went for the "Teins"Both will cost around the same money fitted £370 ....Fully recommend "Hypertech" Whilst your there, if handling is a top priority for you, i would defiantly have the "droplinks" fitted - £75 a pair with free fitting.BEFORE :TEINS :Hope this helpsCraig
mctwistuk Posted September 24, 2006 Author Posted September 24, 2006 Car looks great. How do you get on with speed bumps?
craigwrx Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Not a problem mate with just teins, but will also be adding a splitter soon, will have to be a little careful then. Craig
