craig mac
I was going to go for the redstuff ones too but the lad at AS performance put me off them, he said they would maybe last one or two track days!!![] And the DS pads are actual racing pads, so need a wee warm up first, but christ they fair bite when needed. Craig OH, so it was Alyn @ ASP that told you that. HMM! I could have sworn someone else said it days before the same person told you to go and see Alyn and get the DS series pads. Oh, I'm sorry, my bad.[:|] Russell FPMSL[] Oh maybe you had some input LOL, see we forget you when you are miles away.....until i turn on that ignition then i remember you again[] Craig Link to comment

Russs
Wuz, WHY THE SHOUTING?! You are making presumptions without knowing all the facts. Butt out. Sorry if I don't know all the wiring off the top of my head. [:|] Of course I know where the manuals are available, ask the owner of the car. I already pointed out one wiring fault with it to him. More and more of your posts appear to be getting at me or WP. If you have a problem please come in and talk to me. I don't publicly criticise you at every opportunity. I thought better of you than this. Apologies to others getting more useful info from this thread, but I felt it necessary to say something. Link to comment
gogsie
Gogsie - I assume this means I'll be hearing from you REAL SOON then? COOL[] Russell ps - Russs should have know that the Speed pickup differs on the JDM cars comnpared to the UK cars. He also should know that the manual for the AVCR is READILY AVAILABLEON THE NET AND I HAVE A SPARE ONE HE COULD HAVE USED. Russell To be fair Wuz - Russell did spot it at the time and did get the correct manual on his computer. He did put the speed pick up in different slot from the one that is in wiring diagram so not sure why the speed pick up isn't working yet and it could be something else but russell is going to look at it tomorrow. WUZ
Russell - I touch goats that I expect a sorted answer from you in 24 hours. I have a very good incling what the reason is but I'll leave it for Russell to sort out as I don't want to butt in anymore. I'll edit my post from before and call it a day. gogsie
OK Guys got back from Wallace Performance at lunch time and now have to clear a few things up. It turns out that my AVCR controller is working OK. Russell looked up the internet again to see if he had missed something but could only find 2 diagrams and double checked that he had wired it up as per my JDM (GDB EJ207 or something like that) any he confirmed he had wired it as per correct wiring diagram. He also checked the Greddy wiring diagrams to see if they had the same diagram for my 5 plug ecu and they had. He then proceeded to remove tape etc and check solder joint was OK and it was. He made a couple of phone calls to check with other guys and came back with the same diagram. Now obviously a bit perplexed he was now thinking of installing one of his own Apexi Avcr to see if it was my unit. Russell decided to stick it on the RR so he could spin teh wheels up and low and behold the bloody thing was working, it was picking up a speed. So now I'm perplexed [8-)] but this is the trap most of us non experienced guys fall into and that's listening to the experts but not taking it all in or not relaying the info correctly. Not sure what the fault was when Andy tried to set it but I will need to check. Second thing was when I said the boost hose came off the solenoid what I should have said was it came of the dump valve which Wallace hadn't touched so there you go a simple mistake by me and it looked like Wallace had messed up when they hadn't. Russell then offerred to give me a free dyno run since it was on the rollers anyway which of coarse I happily accepted and he also stuck a clip on the hose that came off so I have to say a great service and i'm a real happy chappy. BHP was 333 bhp which is pure coincidence it's the same as TSL figures, but torque came in at a whopping 378.9 ftlbs at around 4000revs and peak boost was 1.84bar. This confirms how the car feels on the road - pulls like Gogsie in town on a saturday night!! Now at the risk of saying something and upsetting someone I believe there has been on going friction between Russell of BHP of which I'm a very satisfied customer and Wallace Performance of which I'm also a satisfied customer and I wasn't aware of it. I believe from Wuz at BHP that some of Wallace performance guys have slagged off Wuz's workmanship which is not fair and as far as my experience and lots of others on here - not true either Russell at Wallace did accept that this may have happened in the past but felt he was trying to ensure that that didn't happen while he was there and from Wallace Performances side all Russell was wanting to get across is keep it off open forums as whether the point is right or wrong it can be damaging for his reputation and business which I think is fair enough. Aberden crew haven't looked to good over the last couple of days so lets all chill and remember it's meant to be fun. So boys and girls, in the end Gogsie is still a happy chappy and cars going like a good yin. Now off to wash and polish for Sunday. Wee heeeeeee [Y] [] Link to comment
andrew_forrest
Nice result Gordon [] The hose that came off during mapping was where the AVC-R boost take off had been 'T'd in to the dump valve control line. The MPH input to the AVCR was reading a constant 20mph regardless of the speed the car was moving. The speed input signal to the ECU as read via the laptop and the output to the speedo display were both reading normally. Its sorted now though [] Andy Link to comment
craig mac
Now pulls like Gogsie in town on a saturday night!! dipsy
Gogise thats some torque figure you have and 1.84bar out of a vf37 .I wonder if the boost pressure can go any higher on the vf37?? Link to comment
Russs
Not sure I can reply to this (thought it was locked?!), but thanks for your comments Gordon, much appreciated. Also caught up with Andy, just to clear the air a little (thanks Andy). Can I just point out that the T-piece that blew off was installed previously, and not by WP.Both Gordon and Andy agree with this. Also, the AVC-R is working perfectly with no changes requiring to be made. Link to comment
andrew_forrest
I can confirm Russels comments above, the T piece in question also supplies the boost gauge. Not that a hose popping off during mapping is a big issue, it happens on every 2nd car that comes in here ! AVCR remains a mystery, there were a few around with dodgy processor boards some time go but that was normally a boost control issue. Regards the boost achieved on the rollers, this would be a midrange peak and not a held figure. The car would normally run 1.6 bar +/- 0.1 in the midrange. Some cars struggle to hit target boost on the rollers, these twin scrolls hit so fast that they can tend to overshoot a bit. Not far from the "roaddyno" figure though Gogs [] Andy Link to comment

Well when the hose came off it maxed out the gauge so I geuss in theory it could go to 2bar but don't think I should try that to often. Link to comment
gogsie
Andy's right it was a peak figure and holds well @ 1.7bar on the gauge which I believe is 1.6bar on the computer and thats miles better than before. Julie took it to Asda last night and for a run with the kids the night and she was a little excited when she got back. Even the wife can't believe the difference and if it has the same effect as it did tonight I will let her hay a shoty every night [] [Y] Going to put the AVCR on self learn tomorrow and try adjusting the 3 & 4 gear boost which is about 1.3bar and see how it goes. Nooooooooooo ! Stop ! Don't put it on self learn as it will learn a profile from the lower gears and then apply it to higher gears. This will give massive overboost ! If Russell has set up the gear recognition numbers then just increase the in-gear start duty cycle by a few degrees in the lower gears. First you need to know if he has set the 5 gears to 1-5 or 2-6 ? The latter being preferable. Andy Link to comment
