FAO Everyone

The Scottish Section is getting bogged down with Posts containing nothing more than FAO Person and then content of I touch goats.

It's getting to be quite annoying and a few people have mentioned to me via PM or MSN that it's annoying them and can anything be done.

I can understand why people do it of course. There's nothing flashing to say you've got a new PM and I don't know about everyone else but my email alerts don't appear until sometimes 12 hours or more after the PM has arrived.

So can I ask pretty please that I touch goats posts are kept to the VERY minimum. I'm sure everyone can just click the PM button when they visit the forum and see for themselves if they have a message or not.

I'm not having a go at anyone in particular as I've done it myself. That said, abuse, suggestions and banter are always welcome via PM, email or where.

I'm not guilty of it myself Stephen but as you said I can understand why people do it.

Is there a flashing icon or pop-up solution in the pipeline?

No seriously though Playsatan2's idea is a beezer a wee flashing icon or something along those lines

Not all of us have access to MSN at work or actually use it at home either

Right Enough I do try to keep it to existing posts.... but then Ive had PMs that its never even told me that I have I only found out when I was looking for another PM.....

Also guilty![:$] try to "re-use" old I touch goats threads where possible.But, the current system doesnt work very well[]

In the old system the glowing /flashing light next to your user name was an excellent system[Y]

Is it possible to get this back[Y] or [N]

In the meantime I'll try and keep to a minimum[]

it`s pretty simple just check you PM`s, im pretty sure we all do it anyway so the I touch goats posts are a waste of bandwidth []

I can fully understand urs concerns Stephen, it dont look nice and does distract one from the thread ..

I'm Guessing this has just been raised due to me and Craig over the last 15 mins ....it is the first time i have ever used that method thou ...but Guilty as charged .

Hopefully though this can fixed ?

Unfortunately Duncan a heck of a lot of folk DONT[]

I know on a few occasions when I've sent PM's that its taken a few days for folk to respond even tho they have been on most days[]

However, like you I check mine every time I come online.[][]

I'll see if Community Server know of any ways we can get a visual indicator. They have a good forum where I can ask!

There are several options available to warn peeps of a pending pm, but I'm guessing there not active to keep bandwidth down and discourage the use of pm's ?

This happens on most other forums apart from this one.

But saying that, people are dieing all over the world and folk are complaining about 'FAO'. 

If it says 'FAO Joe Bloggs' then it is for Joe Bloggs, but how many of you look at what it says anyway?????

Sorry, but there must be more to life than worrying about 'FAO's' in a forum!!!!!!!

I have seen horrific lifestyles in my life and I for one feel very humble as to what I have, so when silly little things like this pop up it angers me, and believe me, they are silly.

agreed.

there's been times i've PM'd someone when I've spotted them posting and

know they are online.  Luckily they replied back pretty quickly so

no problems there.  I also regularly check my PMs when I am online.

If folk get into the habit of clicking their PM button, there wont be a need for all the FAO threads
