wrxmania Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Someone suggested I should "un-jap" the back of the car, and maybe just fit either a new red STI badge or a single chrome Impreza badge - I quite like it as original- but what do you think? Current: Cleaned Up: ALSO - if I remove the blanking covers under the vents to the left and right of the bonnet, will this make any difference or cause any issues??? Seen here: I detango'd the car today too: Before: After: Fitted a Radiator slam panel today (hard to see under the front grille): Thanks in advance for your opinions. Brian []
the squiggle Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Simple really You remove the Jap graphics and i kill you. Regard to bonnet vents, pax side is over the fuse box and drivers side is over the MAF.............Know what i am saying
wrxmania Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 Got you - no to both then - I do like the Jap graphics - unless I hear otherwise they will be staying! Brian []
wrxmania Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 Grant - what about a nice Turbo 2000 sticker? []
the squiggle Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Grant - what about a nice Turbo 2000 sticker? [] Not only i kill you but i also pee on your grave.
wrxmania Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 Grant - do you have ANY pictures of STI version 1's or the original wheels which came with it - or even Japanese reviews? Cannot find the info anywhere. []
the squiggle Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Next meet i will bring along an early magazine Version 1 had the tall spoiler and 17inch 5 spokes with single centre cap covering the wheel nuts
the squiggle Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 http://cgi27.plala.or.jp/~zuruzou/impreza_data.html#ind2
wrxmania Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 17" five spokes - ahhh - the only photo I have found is this one (and it says in the Haynes book it came with split rims). These may be one and the same? What are my chances of finding these wheels though - I'd assume NIL! []
ANDYJDMSTI Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 keep the stickers. not too keen on the original wheels though
bigdavie Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 come on grant !!! you.....????!!!! kill anything ?? nahhh not buyin it mate !! unless its on yer screen or no plate in yer yella van or on the exotic bumper you have on your wholly excellent 2.5 scoobaroo !! also the less graphics the better !! although saying that i do have a 1 foot windscreen banner mentioning my favourite bodyshop !!!! anyone guess what it is ??
bigdavie Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 btw if i have offended anyone i heartilly apologise as im *****!!! been on the beer for 3 days now !!!!! and i really think i was spiked aty the dancin last night !!
micra_wrc Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 i also think you should keep the stickers on the boot lid. To me, it is one of the things that tells me its a JDM, as UK classics dont have the slanty WRX writing. BTW, the detango looks nice
gubderSTI Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I would also keep the original graphics.I have on mine Steve
thefastone Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I think you should Get yourt self a "1.8GL" badge.... Its where it's at... [] [] Oh and Grant, I just noticed your Signature.... ROFPMSL!!!!!!!! [][:'(][]
paddy247 Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 My opinion is the same as Grants, on both questions. I Could be wrong, but I think the wheels on the car were a factory option, as I found a press release photo with the white 15" speedlines on it, and now I can find it again. The car is looking nice and fresh detango'd[] Paddy.
wrxmania Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 Cheers all, As I expected - the stickers will 100% be staying - they are unique and I like that reflection of Japanese culture. POLL CLOSED lol [] It would seem in keeping with the other Impreza's of the period, and the fact the wheels are both 15" and Speedlines, that they would be an option. I like those wheels more than the original STI V.1 wheels and , bizarrely, they suit the car. Brian []
