Shell V power, What's that about?

Hi Guys,

I know you are an educated lot. What's with this V Power stuff?

Is it just a higher octane? Should I still run Octane booster?

As this is my first tank full of Millers in my jap waggon, am I doing the right thing?

Should I fit a flamer kit and frighten old people?[W][6]

Vpower is whats been availible in most of Europe for some time and runs a higher octane 99ron. (In Germany etc.. its 100ron) But also has better effect for turbo engines especially when modded.

Dont run Octane booster all the while as it could cause problems due to the engine not being necesarily used to the higher detonation factor. I only run Booster on Rolling road days, shows (for the flaming) and track days.

Defo get a flamer, its wicked. Went to the office last night at 10.30pm and lit the lanes up. essex of the north baby

O.K whats the best exhust mod for my96 jap classic.......I am open to ideas.

I have a HKS system on at the mo with standard cat by looks of it.

Pipe has a big ding in it just before the back box so dose need some work. Some of the lads at Tatton were say about up pipes and down pipes to release more power. Would a sports cat be a good idea or a de-cat, how will that affect MOT's.

Cheers Steve

Quick question about the flamer kit... It ignites unburned fuel in the exhaust pipe, right? Do you have have to change your engine management to shove unburned fuel down the exhaust pipe on overrun, or does it just do that anyway? Also, doesn't that knacker your cat, so is it only recommended on de-cat systems?

There are three types of Flamer kits.

1. I little piece of kit that overides your fueling and keeps injecting fuel after the ECU has finished to created un burned fuel

2. I little piece of kit that interupts the ignition timing of the car and leaves fuel unburned

(AVOID THESE AT ALL COSTS AS IT WILL SCREW YOUR CAR UP)

3. A coil pack with a seperate ignition board that you switch on or off. This is completely independant and purly burns the fuel naturally left behind. This is the kit we all have and recomend, just make sure you use the right cables when wiring it as if you undersize the cable they will melt. If you need any more advice just ask...[y]

We get ours here http://www.cvnation.com/csdev/ and if you call him and mention the Subaru club and Steve sent you he does them for 49.99...[y]

And its now 99.9p rather than the 103.1 I was paying on the Optimax
