lescazscoob Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 my car has had a few teething problems since i got it and i have been told it is overboosting the car drives fine if you gradually feed in the power but if you put the foot to the floor it seems spluttery and cuts all power after 5000ish rpm followed by a bit of popping from the exhaust. i have been told to replace the boost control solenoid but am unsure whether this is the problem or not any light on the subject would be a very big help to me. cheers les
st3ph3n Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 What spec - full decat, standard ecu etc. etc.?
david_taylor Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Always hard to say here, but could also be a dodgy fuel pump!
RS Grant Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 I had that on my Wagon... I fitted a Dawes Device and took the control away from the car, worked fine after that. What I would say is, try and set it up on a coooold night so that its got a built in margin for error on warmer days. I cant help you with the Boost/Fuel cut limit on your car though. My wagon was 1.2bar, then you hit the windscreen when it hit the wall. [] Cheers, Grant
drb5 Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 As Grant says. I have a brand new manual boost controller here if you want it. £15 delivered.
Anonymous Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Nice lurk drb5. Manual controller will give you the control you require.
lescazscoob Posted August 26, 2006 Author Posted August 26, 2006 drb5 yes please mate im open to ideas on this as for the full spec of my car im unsure but the bits i know of are snakehead exhaust system hks intake and hks blow off valve these are the only visible mods i can see but there may be more i really need to get this sorted out as its making me just want to give up with this car had enough of it at the moment
drb5 Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Nice lurk drb5. Manual controller will give you the control you require. [] I aim to please. The MBC gives better boost control than standard, with the benefits of it being so much easier and quicker to clean, when the time comes. You don't need to set the boost higher than standard either, so it's not as though you NEED loads of gauges tomake sure it's ok. Just so long as you have a boost gauge, just to make to you get it set bang on standard, or a touch more if you the extra gauges. PM me if you do want it. Instructions supplied and if you get stuck, i'll label the pipework so you can't go wrong when fitting it.
lescazscoob Posted August 26, 2006 Author Posted August 26, 2006 I touch goats drb5 cheers guys for the help will see if this works and update post to let you know. one last question ive been offered a p1 boost solenoid will this fit my car? cheers
drb5 Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Replied Les. It won't fit, as you need a 3 port solenoid and the P1 uses a 2 port.
jcscoob Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Check all your vac hoses round the turbo area for splits, mine was donig the same when i first got it and it turned out to be a 2" long piece of vac hose with a small split only visable when i flexed the hose, changed it for a bit silicon and as good as new. worth a look ! []
lescazscoob Posted August 26, 2006 Author Posted August 26, 2006 im going out to the driveway in 5 minutes to check over all vacum hoses going to fit a boost controller from drb5 and a b oost gauge when i get one hopefully this will rectify it. cheers les
