clutdav Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Howdy Everyone, I have just got back from Wallace Performance having had my Tek3 custom map tweeked for the parts that Wuz managed to install for me last week. The new additions were: 1. Prodrive Sports Downpipe (high flow cat) - wrapped, 2. H&S Decat Centre Section (to remove the second cat), 3. Walbro 255 Fuel Pump. Firstly Wuz did a fantastic job of installing all the parts on the car last week - and fitting me in considering the latest addition to the Hulme household. Thanks for all your help Russ you did a top job. Big thanks to Russ at Wallace Performance for fitting me in this week for the mapping session. He took the time to go through all the changes that were being made to the car and explain them. Ta for filling the oil up and letting me sit in on the mapping session. A couple of things to note on the graphs are that the waste gate duty cycles were changed and so the advance multiplier was reset to 8 - meaning for the runs the timing was not as advanced as it could have been and so the power and torque are slightly down on what they will be after the ecu has re-learnt. Also the loading was different on the torque run hence the reason she appears to come in latter than the previous map - not the case though. Plus she was running 97ron super unleaded fuel so there is more to come from her there aswell She pulls fantastically from 3300rpm all the way through to redline. Power = 315 bhp, up 16bhp on the last stage. Torque = 322 ft.lbs, up 36ft.lbs on the last stage. This is down on what I had expected but the map is very safe, the fuelling is spot on and the boost spiking/fluctuating in 5th and 6th is dramatically reduced. All in all the gain in torque is great and the car drives really well. Power Curve Torque Curve Dyno Run Movie with Star Guest...... Click here to watch Wallace-Performance-Mapping-Session
philip_wilson Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Nice one Dave bet your a happy chappy now []
clutdav Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 It's a mixed feeling. I am glad that the car made some good gains in torque but it is a little disappointing in terms of bhp. Never mind she is safe. Dave

Thats strange ? With a light load run, these ECU's will learn the advance multiplier within 30 seconds from a reset ? They don't need any longer. Andy
fai17 Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 That's not too bad figures at all......G.mac made 350bhp and 310 torque but running full 3" decat and APS CAI. So your bhp maybe a wee bit down from his because of the exhaust but you have more torque
clutdav Posted August 24, 2006 Author Posted August 24, 2006 Ta for the positive comments guys. The torque increase is really noticeable and she does pull very well now - not quite in Craig Mac's teritory but quick none the less. In terms of in gear driveability the car is transformed with the mods that Wuz installed for me due to the 36ft.lbs torque increase over the last level of tune. Russ at Wallace Performance gave me the choice of either keeping the high level of torque or reducing that to give more bhp - so in the end I thought that for the type of driving I do the torque would come in handy. Hopefully with a tank of V-Power and the ecu re-learnt (increasing the advance multiplier) she should release a few more ponies and ft.lbs of torque - so bring on the next rolling road day............[] All I can say is that I have had a very positive experience again using Wallace Performance - Russ really does take his time and has no problems explaining the mapping options to you. So then Phil what mods you got planned????? Dave
craig mac Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 so bring on the next rolling road day............[] Dave Dave. As i have mentioned before m8 each rolling road can give you varying figures, as they can be set up to read high or low, depends on the set up and operator. This in turn can give you varied changes in figures from one set of rollers to another. Just a wee heads up m8[], just incease you go on someone elses rollers and dont meet that[], or pehaps even better the figures you have recorded at Wallace[]. Bet your still smiling though[], i am am still on perma grin mode since the 19th.....until i get bored[]LOL Craig ps where do you see the 322 figure?

Dave Sorry if you think I'm being picky here Dave but I can't sit back and listen to someone being told crap by people who 'should' know better. You appear to be quoting power from run 3 and torque from run 2 ? what did you actually end up with ?? Regarding torque and power, it shouldn't be an either/or option. The purpose of mapping is to take the time to safely maximise both, this may take 10+ runs and then would need to be refined on the road afterwards. Your brief torque peak on the graph is clearly due to an overboost spike on spool up, genuine sustainable torque would have been maintained over a greater rpm range. Andy
philip_wilson Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 So then Phil what mods you got planned????? Dave Well Dave I’m just waiting for all stage one part to be delivered [] and have started to pricing stage two bits, I’m hoping to get all stage one parts fitted before Crail and stage two work will be done in the next month or two. I’m still thinking about stage three mods and a possible [] 2.5 conversion but that won’t be till next year. Stage one (Away to start fitting) 3” Downpipe 3” Decat center section & back box Panel filter Uprated spark plugs Fuel Pressure regulator Uprater fuel pump Samco Turbo hose Remap (might wait till stage 2 bit arrive and are fitted) Stage two Headers Sti Intercooler Bigger Turbo (not sure what one yet) Uprated Injectors Remap

duncan_stephen Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Phil, What model of scoob do you have. Sounds like your heading down the same road I'm heading towards. What route you going down for the Map. Flash or Power FC?

Andy Andy, you are jumping to conclusions here without knowing all the facts. Please don't, I wouldn't do that to any other "tuner", let alone you. Dave has had every part of his map changes explained, and indeed was involved in choosing what characteristics he wanted from the car. He will even confirm that I spoke to Mervyn at ecutek too. As far as I am concerned, the customer is fully informed and happy. End of.
herbie Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 At least you have one happy customer. I got my car back from you guys with a melted engine.

duncan_stephen Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Saw your car being rebuilt at Japerformance Herbie. Didn't actually know that it was said garage that had caused the problem.
st3ph3n Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Gents, can we keep this on topic and factual please. Not accusing anyone of anything yet, but you all know the score.

Russs Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Gents, can we keep this on topic and factual please. Not accusing anyone of anything yet, but you all know the score. Thank you for that. I suspect this thread is likely to be closed anyway, considering Stephens comments, but for what it is worth, their are always two sides. Engines break all of the time. They are machines, machines have a limited life, particularly if they are not well maintained or operated beyond their normal parameters.
