Defi question

Help!

If I'm going for Defi gauges for the scoob is it a Link Controller 1 or Link controller 2 that I need?

Anything else I need to get gauges, pod,controller and????

All help appreciated.

OR

anyone tried these Din sized units? would go nicely with a single DIN head unit in the double DIN space. What 3 gauges?

all you need is the guages, pod and controller (not essential though but good for setting min/ max levels, record data and playback)

unsure about the differences between 1 and 2, don't know what one i have.

Don't look nearly as good IMHO - sorry !! Also, they're going to be too low to glance at when you're driving I'd have thought.

Not a fan of the din gauges either. The standard 3 to get are Oil Pressure, Oil temp and Boost. That's what I have.

The controller is nescessary as that's where the sensors get plugged in to. Contoller 1 has 30 seconds of recording and can't run the new BF series. Controller 2 has 3 minutes of recording and can control the BF and the old ones (at the same time).

Gus this is who I got mine from, and sheep also got a set from the same guy - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-Subaru-...emZ110022678664 - they're not BF, but have STI branding and the illumination colour is an exact match for the green and red on your dash. Although you've seen them anyway so you know the score.

as for the din, not my cup of tea, apart from being abit low to see properly as has been said i also think the guages will be rather on the small side.

they also look abit cheap and naff

I'm probably going to get myself a controller 2, and maybe add on an EGT gauge when I get the rest of my pipes changed.

Slightly off topic question, But what is the sort of normal operating figures for a car yes i know i can put guagues in but what would giving me alarm bells boost of 2 bar etc, what oil temp is normal etc.

You can set the alarms at any level you want with the Defi Control 2

My oil Temp is set to 110 degrees c

Oil Pressure at 2 Barg at Idle alarm set at 1.7,  and 6 barg @ Cruise and Turbo Boost Alarm at 1.8 Barg and holds at 1.6 to 1.7

Bandit, not sure how much the STI differs, but the WRX sits at about 6 bar oil pressure when cruising. Boost peaks up to 1.3 sometimes (well 1.27 on the R-Vit), but usually about 1.1-1.15 and always taper off and hold 1bar. I think that will be higher on the STI though.

Oil temp - not sure as that ones not plumbed in yet.
