st3ph3n Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 So you will get the full service on the first date? Excellent. Still wouldn't burst in the door and demand a marquee though. More exposure for the club can only be a good thing. After that who knows what it can lead to.
RA Dunk Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 BTW Craig the free SIDC tax disc thing is a good idea for promoting the club, who ever thought up that one should get a gold star
phil Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Lots of good ideas! Marquee would be nice considering our main one is in tatters but hey play it by ear and see whats on offer and what we can offer them Phil
paulc555 Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Getting local dealers involved can only be a good thing, afterall I thought the whole ethos of the club was to build relationships with people/companies who can be of benefit to us all as Subaru drivers. I do hope tom night at Ian Grieve Subaru goes well. This in fairness being the first meet to be held here will test the water I suppose. I know that Charlie and Gavin are both more than willing to make this work. The format will be pretty open and perhaps ideas can be discussed for future meets. Fair play to your Craig for taking the bull by the horns and pushing for more than the standard SIDC discount.....giving me ideas now...... Perhaps a individualy sponsored marquee would be to unique and to locally focussed which would not provide the impact required if the event was out of the dealers catchment area., would a banner showing all of the dealers in the various regions not be considered....that would also plant the idea with the dealers and companies who are not providing support to the club.......
euan_r Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 dont know if this is off topic slightly but i was wondering how much longer genuine parts are going to be avaliable for the older classics. There will always be aftermarket stuff and breakers but surley the scoobs a future classic eh? [:$]
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I didn't even know they did an SIDC discount and have had my last two services with them ( curses !) ! Can you ask them if I can get my 10% back ?! I jest !! I have nothing to add really ( not cause I am being daft) - other than discounts I cannot really think of anything etc A demonstrator day would be good though....... It would be good to know what deals they did on tyres too .... And their opinion on modified cars would be good too ..... Oh and they REALLY have to get their seagull issues sorted out Other than that they do a good job IMHO. Kev has always been very helpful Yes they are overpriced but buying is a game and if you don't do your homework before you pitch up then you deserve to get robbed. Besides we have mair dough in ABZ ( supposedly) [] Cheers Cal p.s Another complaint is that they lad they have had washing my car on the last two occasions for my service has done a terrible job. ( i.e using manky water) It makes me wonder how he gets burd keich aff the motors...,.I have often wondered about this
redscoobydoo Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Craig, nae everyone, can spend as much time on the site like you and others,,,ive just come on masel for the first time since fri!!!! I like to catch up with the threads as best as I can..... you have said most of the deals in ur first thread, and like you say they are not a charity!! go easy on the abz lads, your post is only 4 hrs old , so ye cannae expect everyone to be on line and see yer thread, im sure like me everyone is thinking of offers etc, but most of the obvious ones are up already. this is something that will build up over the time with T & C, you dont have to go in with a box with 100 requests..they will also want to know how we can help them out as well... The marquee is a crackin idea, so both parties are getting observed etc, maybe they want to join us on an event and dish out their bumff n goodies, , The main rfequest has got to be servicing, etc..tyre deals and parts, this is just the srart of a relationship. Good effort Craig, like you say , "your the ma n to pull the trigger"....dont miss!!!! Charlie[]

Boyakasha Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I'll just add my 2p worth, sorry to be negative. I spent close on £50k 4 years ago on 2 brand new scoobs. On the day we picked them up it looked as though they had been washed with grit, my other half's car had a scratch on the bonnet, oil marks on the roof liner and a number of other minor problems. We had to give the car straight back and didn't get it back for a week[:@] After that escapade I vowed never to use T&C again, although I now use T&C but not Subaru [] It's a shame that you have good guys like Kev working in the back ground, but it is let down by other areas. I think T&C have a lot to do to win back customers in ABZ who are quite willing to drive down to Fiskens etc to get work done or buy a car. Dealers in Aberdeen need to realise that there are other places you can go and that they are not the centre of the Universe. Andersons (was that what it was called) then T&C Subaru used to be the biggest Subaru dealership in the UK, now I would doubt they are in the top 10. Customers talk with their feet (excuse the pun) and it is obvious up here. There are some things that money can't even help and to me the most important thing that T&C have been lacking for years is customer service, if they can't deliver that then forget it, ever tried getting a car when you need a service!!! Good Luck Craig.
duncan_stephen Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Well done for getting this started Craig. I think itrs good that they are willing to get involved and the best way to develope this relationship is to try and get them along to some of the events. Let them pitch a sales point at events. Even if its just a demo car with T&C flyers. Invite them along to monthly meetings, as well as getting them involved it may also provide us with positive input into future events. The more this relationship grows and the more involved they become the more flexible you will find them when it comes to negotiating deals as it will start to benefit all parties if they are getting the right coverage. I'm not looking to take the pi$$ but like it has been said above, IMHO I think they are overpriced to the point where I would only use them for warranty purposes. But with my classic being 9 years old, they would have to be offering competitive rates to get me there. [:$] Not that I'm greedy [:$] But there are other places out there with years of Scoob experience, offering good service for a fraction of the price. Another point that has been raised is TI Values, this aint going to change, so no point complaining. Just my experiences with them. Duncan
craig mac Posted August 22, 2006 Author Posted August 22, 2006 Quote One thing that I was thinking Was that last year I had my car in for an MOT It took waaaaaaaaaay longer than could ever have been anticipated and the result was that I was stuck with a seat AROSA of all blo0dy things, to do a 130 mile round trip. for a week or so. every day I had to make the journey I think that They should mebbe make more of an effort to make sure that we have AT LEAST an Impreza as a courtsey car, even when they are running low on courtsey cars...Just a thought... [:$] They currently have 3 cars available for use, an 06 impreza sport, ans 2 06 Legacy's As you can appriciate this costs money for them to have customer loan cars. They have to take 17k worth of car out the showroom for this, and this in turn leads to depriciation and loss, the same as all garages. There are very few garages in Aberdeen who have in excess of 3 or 4 loan cars, and if they do they are usually Micra's etc small cost and lay out. Some great Questions and i am preparing today and will tomorrow morning for this meet and all your worth while comments will be discussed. Craig
duncan_stephen Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Craig, I know this has been disscussed but while we're on the subject of courtesy cars - A friend of mine opened a garage, (specialist but not main dealer) and after feedback from his customers he found it was more important to have a courtesy car than he would have believed. Speaking only from my own experiences I have found it very difficult to book a service from a main dealer and get a courtesy car without giving a couple months notice. Also I've had insurance issues with courtesy cars. My mate found that it was more important to have more courtesy cars of less value than two or three of higher value. I have been a customer of Carden motors for some time now (or at least I was when I had my Honda), and they always had a courtesy car for me. Nothing flash but its only for 1 day (most of the time). I guess the LONG point I'm trying to make is that I don't care what type of car I get as long as I get one.
craig mac Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 Last Call folks, if you have any more let me know before Lunchtime so i can prepare for this Craig
clutdav Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Howdy my man, Good effort for taking the time to organise this. You kept this one close to your chest yesterday. Apart from the SIDC discounts, marquee, tax disc holders, fliers, stickers, etc the only thing I can think of is for T&C Subaru Aberdeen to put on a big display at the next Alford day with discounts on the day (cars and PPP's) and maybe some passenger laps in a new MY06. It will just be a case of seeing how much you can get I suppose. Is there anyway they could offer top-up warantees for people with modified engines - in other words paying a little bit extra during the 3 year period so that your modified engine is covered. I know it depends on how crazy people go but for the normal mods........? Dave
craig mac Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 Dave One problem with trying to extend warranty on modified cars is ......................... Where do we draw the line? Craig
clutdav Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Yeah I know and that would be the tricky thing - but you could break it up into categories. Like breathing mods (panel filters and exhausts), remaps (Tek3 for example and CAI), and crazy beggars like yourself (turbo mods, headers, etc) - each with their own associated cost. Probably more hassle than its worth I grant you but it would be nice to know your car is still covered. Oh another thing could be discounted driving days at Knockhill with proper scooby tuition - sponsered by T&C Aberdeen and Subaru UK. Oh and what about 1 year "free" paid membership to SIDC with all new car purchases???????? Dave
gogsie Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I use Carden too. Used Glenvargill until they warrenty ran out then used Carden and I have found there service is much better than Glenvargil. The courtesy cars are a bit old but I enjoy it. I find it fun getting into the old toyota or proton and driving around. I just don't go where I can be seen. That's reminds me I need to book a MOT for the Honda Craig I wouldn't be bothered if they used a couple of older trade-ins (Inspected and safe) as long as I could get a car. Same as others have said. Expensive and not the best service. But having a JDM that wouldn't matter as they won't look at them anyway. Saying that I have visited a couple of times on minor matters like locking wheelnuts and no key and they removed them free of charge and I bought a new set from there parts dept without the 10% discount! I think a good part of the reason they are willing to talk is that it's is good for business and they need to build up there rep with the cash customer again. Subaru's are great cars as per JD Power Surveys so they should sell bucket loads and have the servicing wrapped up. Part of the problem in Aberdeen is the false perception that we're all loaded and also that there is so many company cars that keeps garages busy without having to worry about the private owning - cash paying public. They need to remember that although we have a rep for being on good incomes we also have a rep for liking to hang onto our incomes. [] How about they issue customer satisfaction forms to all SS members or after every service. That should give them plenty feedback (throw in a free key ring or something for everyone completed).
