Probably covered a thousand times before, but seen a few cheap centre decat pipes on e-bay some with what looks like asilencer ?? any difference in power, noise etc & does it need remapped etc ? Will the car still pass an MOT ?   cheers,,  [:$]

What age of car do you have mark?

The new age has a centre section with a resonator then a cat pipe with a cat - which is the 3rd on a WRX and the 2nd on an STI. The classics have the centre with the cat and resonator which you replace as one.

On my new age I just changed the resonated centre for a straight through one and removed the cat and put in a decat pipe. Result - sounds magic, pulls better.

Mark,

adding to the above, if your running a classic it replaces a cat but you can have a straight through section rather than having a silencer/resonator.

Not sure about ther remap thingy with the classics tbh. Anyone Know?

I can supply these sections through a friend who fabricates for both newage and classic if your interested? ASk St3ph3n or craigwrx about the quality[:P]

ive just had the centre section on my 99 classic changed for a straight through magnex section, it already had scoobysport downpipe and backbox but the centre section was standard with the cat and silencer, apparently it always passed the mot like that but would fail with the new magnex decat centre, however falkland performance centre have a made up centre section with 2 cats they use to put on for mots which is what i did and it passed fine on emmisions.  mine doesnt have remap dont think it needs it for just exhaust mods tbh.  ps car sounds a bit louder with new centre pipe but not too loud just really nice!

Thanks for advice, mine is a 00 classic. I don"t want to bother with a remap just now, car is still standard apart from a scoobysport back box which is a wee bit too quiet ,,,,,  [:P]

Had a MY00 with PPP. Put on centre decat pipe, straight through, no resonators or silencers. Sounded much better (IMHO[:P][:P]) and ran fine. Not much louder but the "burble" was more noticeable. Still had main cat in the downpipe so ok for MOT's too[Y]

Mark,

My old wagon had a straight through Magnex centre section with no resonator, didnt make any noise difference. Was quicker than your old triumph though[:P]

When you back offshore?
