Cret Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 If I'm allowed to come then I'd be well up for a bit of skeet shooting. Haven't been up there for a while!
CustomScoobyIOM Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Course you are Jim! Come up in yours or ill give you a lift?
Cret Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Quite happy to come along in mine as long as I won't be ruining any nice Impreza formations! Any plans for when this'll be or have I missed that somewhere? Btw if you want to email me at work Jon (or anyone for that matter), you can get me at Work email
CustomScoobyIOM Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Whatcha think to the shooting then Richard?
Cret Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Cheers Richard! I'll try and see if I can squeeze in a half hour to nip down for a pint but I've quite a bit on my plate this evening so I might not be able to make it. Hopefully manage though. Not been out to Quillie's for a year or so, it'll be good to waste a few clays!
dooahhdoo Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 I've done shooters in the Outback but never been shooting before! Would like to go for an experience. Cret, do you have a brother whose name begins with J???? Just me being nosey! Some engine news as well. Ian took a look and listen on Sunday, first fire in 2 weeks and it rattled really bad. Second start up and the rattle took 2 seconds to start. He reckons I have thrown a big end (gonna read up on big ends tonight to see what they do since I am all on my own apart from Ste )
Cret Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Certainly have mate. He's Justin and I live at his gaff at the moment. Saying that I've plenty of other brothers to choose from but if someone on the island has a surname the same as mine, they're family! Best get that rattly big end dealt with asap fella! About 7 years back I had a fiesta that started knocking from the bottom end. About 6 weeks later when it was so loud you could hear it a mile off it spat one of the conrods (complete with gudgeon pin) clean through the front of the engine block! I've still got it somewhere as a trophy of its demise! Still, credit to ford, the little critter kept going on the other 3 pots until it got where I was going.
dooahhdoo Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Tell him Nick from MCB says Hi! << Count me in too matey!! >> << BLAM, BLAM!! >> err, if Neil is going and there are guns involved then I am washing my hair that day. He is scarey enough without any weapons!
Cret Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Will do! He's just about to sacrifice his scoob actually. It's a bit of an old shed of an L series but the motor is good enough. Just seems a crime to scrap a perfectly good turbo boxer engine. Seems perverse. It's going for free if it's any use to anyone? 'Blam blam'? Pah! Amateurs. Everyone knows a 12 gauge doesn't go 'blam'! (One of my other main hobbies..... MAC)
Kristan Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Wonder if it'll fit in the FTO... Now that would be something! Could always try flogging it on scoobynet? As for the meet... guns and food and cars..... Mmmmmm! Did you used to do .22 rifle then Cret? I used to be a Cossack in my younger days
Cret Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 He just wants someone to take it away so he doesn't have to pay to scrap it. As I say though it's a real crime to bin a perfectly good turbo boxer (1.8) even if it's housed in such a horribly boxy shell! Never really been into the .22 rifle shooting to be honest but growing up a hillbilly shotguns and air rifles have always been a bit of a pasttime. Have been doing clay shooting for a long time now too but generally only go up there maybe once a year or so. A bit of full bore pistol shooting a few times down at the peveril club, and then there's the weekend warrior airsoft stuff that I've been doing most weekends for about a dozen years (having a break from it at the moment though). I'm not nuts though.
dooahhdoo Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 I was speaking with Justin today and it does apparently run. Shame to scrap it
Cret Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Sounds like Jon's after it so far anyway. Goes pretty quick for such an ugly old shed - just doesn't stop all that well or do corners all that well either I think! What sort of exhausts have you chaps all got on your imprezas out of curiosity? I'm just in the process of getting a 3" system made from the turbo to the back box. It's got no cats, and no intermediate silencers so the only noise reduction will be the back box. I like loud but I suspect this sort of thing may cause earthquakes & tidal waves! If anyone has a similarly set up system I'd be interested to hear about it. Cheers!
dooahhdoo Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 DaveK has got a full blitz. I think we all agree (I certainly do) that his is the loudest and best sounding Impreza we have. BUNG OUT DAVE!
Cret Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Well, to be perfectly honest I'm not really bothered if it's going to be loud or not. After all, they make such a nice sound it's kind to share it with other people who aren't so lucky.
Terrapin Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 fine with shooting great idea but what happened to fireworks to involve children. PS wont be able to do fireworks looking after my pussies.
CustomScoobyIOM Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Cool John Q will look after us too. Yep I with have it off ya Jim. Got some 2 pots spare to go on it, got some WRX Suspension (lowered) and some nice 16" Alloy wheels to go on it too YEY! CustomLSeriesIOM!
Dave K Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 << If anyone has a similarly set up system I'd be interested to hear about it. >> If you want a listen just let me know mate. Cheers Nick.
CustomScoobyIOM Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 << fine with shooting great idea but what happened to fireworks to involve children. PS wont be able to do fireworks looking after my pussies. >> Margy, get Tracey to shoot! Shell enjoy it!!
Cret Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Glad to see the old knacker will still live on! Hmmm, I reckon it'd be a nastier surprise for all the barryboys if it still had standard wheels on it so it doesn't give the game away that it's actually a fairly nippy old charabanc! Ripper of a runaround though. Cheers for the offer Dave - I've just got a 3" Afterburner downpipe & centre pipe ordered so I should have those in about 7-10 days as they've to make them first unfortunately. Still, in the meantime I'll have new brakes to fit and the chip when it gets here so a few bits & pieces to keep me out of mischief. Just need to sort out a backbox now as my current one is 2.5" and a flange fitting rather than a slot in fitting like the new pipe. Jon - will mail you about the 'L' in a bit.....
CustomScoobyIOM Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 They are only my old 16" Std Alloyds mate. Gen Scooby! £300 and no one wants them with Pirelli P6000's on that are brand new!
