jacqui_robb Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 Anyone going to the Fast Car Day at Crail on the 28th September???
gardner Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 JUST GOT MY SCOOBY LAST SAT AND GOING DOWN TO CRAIL. WANT TO KNOW WHERE FIFE MEMBERS MEET AND WHEN
teknopete Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 Yeah, There`ll b a meet organised nearer the time folks. Normal meet for Crail is at Riverside snack bar in Dundee (at the east end of the airport). But keep u r eyes peeled 4 now. Pete
dougster Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 Crail is getting bad press atm with high charges and some of the 'ned' brigade closing in. Any chance of a SIDC/SNet RR day with Glenrothes Airfield before the snow starts? KH start lights at HHSpect. looked small and portable. If anybody knows of any other venues, please feel free to contribute. P.S. Am I allowed to say 'Snet' in these forums??
johns Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 Dougster - of course you are allowed to mention Snet Your message about lights is a bit cryptic though ? Other venues - who do we contact about hiring Glenrothes airfield, and I believe someone else was looking into the possibility of Edzell (just north of Dundee) as well - I believe they do bikers track days there at the moment. John
dougster Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 KH had little portable starting lights, different from the large gantry type thing I have seen before. Pete has contact details of Glenrothes airfield afaik.
johns Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 I think you can do anything you like at Glenrothes airfield
zeolite Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 Thank you for your witty and no doubt(!) original remarks. What I was asking was what motor car related activities would be available at a place where there is one strip of tarmac? I have never heard of the airport being used before.
teknopete Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 Zeo, We occasionally do some one on one racing etc at the airfield. These events are normally held after dyno sessions So we can see if he who can pee furthest up the wall can use it Like is said "it aint how you stand by your car, its how you race it" Pete
zeolite Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 Thanks for that Pete. Which dyno/RR do you use?
teknopete Posted September 26, 2003 Posted September 26, 2003 Dyno sessions are held at Star Performance in Glenrothes. There was some extensive work and experimentation with Jim over the last few years to ensure the dyno figures were true to life, as it was found 4wd dyno`ing had lots of additional factors to be considered. Now though IMHO we are on the nose and figures are available for dyno`ing Scoobs, evos etc accurately But for now who`s all goin 2 Crail on Sunday ? I`d anticipate that it`ll b chok a blok so in order 2 get a good pitch it`d be wise to get there early So anyone wanna do a meet in Dundee earlyish ?? Pete
jacqui_robb Posted September 26, 2003 Author Posted September 26, 2003 How do u mean "a good pitch"? & how early is early-ish?!!! Staying down that way night before so we dont have to get up at crack of dawn! My brothers taking his car on a trailer (non-scooby), so we'll have to leave early anyway. + I want some quiet runs before it gets busy (track virgin).
gardner Posted September 26, 2003 Posted September 26, 2003 what time r uz goin into crail as im from anstruther and no point goin to DD to cum back over and il c uz there. craig
zeolite Posted September 26, 2003 Posted September 26, 2003 I am off to an Autocross west of Perth on Sunday. Much more fun IMHO. I would love to get a scoob to compete but they are still too pricey.
teknopete Posted September 27, 2003 Posted September 27, 2003 Looks like i wont make it this Sunday peebs If things change I`ll c u all there (jus look 4 big red) Pete
