Hi and welcome to SIDC mate [:)]

One of the best first kind of mods is a de-cat downpipe will release the most power in the exhaust and allow the turbo to spool up quicker as far as I know. After that you can change to a bigger fuel pump, new headers, full decat exhaust, remaps the list is end less just comes down to money [;)]

Only down size is the amount of fuel these beasts drink but they are worth every penny imo

Firstly, welcome to the club

Most popular upgrades seem to be air filter (not necessarily an induction kit, panel filter ok upto about 320bhp), decat exhaust and an engine remap to go with it. Dump valve isn't really necessary unless you like/want the noise as the standard holds up ok unless you start upping the boost a fair bit. Popular air filters are green, sti, and k&n and there are loads of companies that deal with exhausts, TSL motorsport, scoobyworld, hayward and scott to name just a few. For a remap I'd give andy forrest a try (www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk I think). Another handling upgrade are some solid rear droplinks and a proper geometry setup.

Downsides? Fuel consumption.[;)]

Hope you enjoy the car

Welcome to the club.

The cars are good for about 300-350 on the standard airbox with just a decent filter. The STI one is probably the best. Avoid an oiled one.

A full turbo back decat and a decat uppipe, then a remap of the standard ECU. That should get you near 300bhp.

Hi and thanks for the welcome, was warned about the fuel econemy but my 2.2 sri astra did 220-240 miles on a tank of super unleaded (48 quid) so its not too bad considering its turbo,4wd and about 60 bhp up on the astra lol what is the prodrive performance pack all about or am i better goin to someone else buying exhaust filter remap?Quite happy so far just dont like the front seats, rear spoiler or the colour really but really impressed with the overall package and that sound, knew i should have bought a classic shape instead of spending 10k on an astra but you live and learn.

PPP is an ecu chip, exhaust and a bit of hose under the bonnet, takes power from 208-215 to 245ish, on a classic, 225-265 on a blobeye wrx and 265 to 305 on an sti. Cost is between £1600 and £2000 fitted through dealers I think. Good thing is its warranty friendly[Y]. If you're not bothered about a warranty you can get more bang for your buck going through a specialist, decat exhaust £5-600, remap £600ish, air filter £40, etc.

Welcome to the club!

You'll find lots of good advice on here about modding your car but think long and hard about what you want to do with it.  For most folk a standard Subaru will be plenty fast enough and by far the most reliable. Minor tweeks more than often lead to major work so think on.

If you've already made up your mind that you are going to mod it then decide how far you want to go and set yourself a goal and stick to it. Only buy parts that will get you to your goal so you don't end up having to upgrade your upgrades if you know what I mean.

Most people spend whatever money they have available on the car but buy the parts as they can afford them and not in the order they need them. Make a list of what you need, or ask what you need, and fit them in the right order. It'll save you a fortune in mapping fees, you'll see steady improvements and above all you'll avoid blowing your engine.

IMHO the worse thing you can do is say I've got £XXXX to spend, what will that get me? If you start off with a certain amount to spend I'll gaurantee you'll spend it all but may not get what you want. As i said decide what you want from the car and then figure how much you'll need to do it.

yeah im just gonna do basic engine upgrades, filter, exhaust, dump valve and remap, maybe FMIC but thats more for looks on my part not performance id be happy with around 260 bhp, just wanted to know the experiences of other people, you lot know what bits work and what doesnt on an impreza lol then move on to other things when i have a bit more money, respray, brakes, rear spoiler and decent seats lol

Hello and welcom to the forums mate [:D]

Martin.

Id say if you were only looking for around 260bhp id look at getting a larger TMIC rather than a FMIC but that really depends on what you are looking for in the end. Link below for a not to expensive larget TMIC

If you want 260 bhp then the mods you've listed should make that no problem. If possible include a decat as part of your exhaust upgrade. If you want to save a couple of quid ditch the dump valve idea, the one that already on your car will be fine at those levels.

I have an STI intercooler and an H&S backbox for sale.  PM me or see the for sale section.  They'd be ideal for your car.  Plus others stuff that may be of interest.
