st3ph3n Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Try www.partbox.co.uk if it's working. They could do you a Cusco bolt in one.
colin_ross Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Think on before you fit one Davie. Good for the track, not so good for the road. I asked about getting a "road" cage on a couple of forums. I said that some cars come with them fitted as standard (TVR's and 911 GT's etc) so why not fit them to a Subaru. To cut a long story short it became pretty obvious that if I didn't want to drive down to Tesco's wearing a four point harness and a crash helmet that it'd do more harm than good. Oh yes, and just try to get insurance with one. It'll just about double your premium and that's if they quote you in the first place. If you want to make your car safer fit the best brakes you can afford and run with good rubber. Don't skimp on maintenance and don't drive like a nut case. If that's not enough I'd guess you better start looking for another car but they won't be any safer if you don't do the above.
bigdavie Posted July 7, 2006 Author Posted July 7, 2006 that's the thing p/s i never skimp when it comes to my car and i stopped driving like a nutter when i was out of my teens !! was just trying to think of a way of justifying keeping the scoob !
colin_ross Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 I know exactly where you're coming from mate but for everyday use a cage is really a backwards step safety wise if not used with other measures. Harnesses are a must as are proper motorsport seats. A helmet would stop your head cracking the metalwork but isn't really practical for everyday use. Short of all that the only way to improve safety is to avoid having an off in the first place. What about driver training courses? Not saying you're a danger or anything just to add a bit of a "comfort" factor.
euan_r Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 i was up looking at car at glenburgie couple of months a go that hid cage. there wis discussions on price for bits taken off including cage. he might hae a couple anyways as he rallys them himself.
