z1000
Are they any different to a k&n typhoon or the other similar ones out there ? Link to comment
craig mac
Yes, or so i am told The actual Filter cone is mounted inside the wing, and not in the engine bay. Correct me if i am wrong....... Craig Link to comment
craig mac
From Andy F's Site "Our preferred solution is to ensure a direct cold air feed to the turbo at all times. One of the most effective ways to do this is by mounting the air filter in the void between inner and outer wings. This area is fed with cold air from the front bumper and is isolated from the hot area behind the radiator. Selection of the correct air filter type is very important as certain models can cause premature mass air flow meter (MAF) failure due to vibration, dust or oil contamination." Link to comment
steve_nairn_sti
I have an APS CAI in my MY03 and it certainly seems to do the job well! [] Link to comment
z1000
The typhoon fits like that by going through the wing. I was told a normal under bonnet cone filter aint worth the bother when i asked my scooby dealer Link to comment
z1000
So is this a piece of junk then ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A%3AIT&rd=1 Link to comment
st3ph3n
These mods are probably decent, but when we're talking about a mod that's not really going to break the bank then buying one that's been well tested by other people from a decent brand is probably a safer best. Sure you might save £50 now, but when bits of the engine make their exit out the exhuast you'll regret it. Link to comment
z1000
Personally i wouldn't be in a hurry to put one on but i just wondered how much better the more expensive ones are ? Link to comment
slo2
Believe it or not I was talking to a F1 designer today regarding my Subby (well actually about building houses but I had the sub with me so the interesting conversation was about it) .Easiest way for more power is to lower temps. Allow the hot air arround engine to escape (change the hinges to leave a gap at the windscreen edge of thebonnet), FMIC, cold air induction. Then if your really serious oil coolers for engine and gearbox. Link to comment
Fonzy
Ross, I had an APS cold air induction kit on my last car. It's very loud, seems to echo in the wing. But I'd be carefull with the MY00 as they use a K&N Filter and as said above is more than likely to knacker the MAF. A better option would be to use ducting to catch cold air from the vent below the right indicatior and direct it to the standard air box. Do a search it's been done heeps of times before. I wouldn't like to see my old car go pop!! Al Link to comment
