kloon Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 Pffffffft, blahards, BHP this and Torque that []
craig mac Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Perhaps have to have another mini-session later on in the year? I'll be decatting mine soon not to mention the fact i still have an AVC-R sitting here doing nothing... [] Is this a full-on 400bhp plan then Craig or will you still be playing catch-up to my little old battle barge? [] Catch up LOL Map would take care of that now as it is LOL [] Craig
Carl Davey Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Russ, torque readings weren't taken because i believe Simon isn't happy with how accurately they can be recorded on a RR. He believes the senders they clip on to the HT lead to get an rpm reading are prone to interferance and as such he doesn't believe they provide a figure that can be quoted as accurate. On the day (if you asked him) he gave you a print out of your torque curve but minus figures. This curve was calculated based on speed and (i think) accelerative force at the wheels, mine peaks at something like 1600Lb's. Definitely not an indication of peak engine torque lol but apparently the shape of the curve is correct.

[] I'd be interested to see just how much difference a map on its own would make to your car.

Fair enough Carl - but it would only mean that he would not get an accurate location of peak torque on the RPM curve but you would still get a figure. I don't care what anyone says...BHP means FECK ALL on a road car. Torque figures and area under the Torque curve are all that matters on a road car. Drag cars are different but we aren't running those types of cars. How is bhp measured on his dyno as the curves should cross over at around 5250rpm so surely the rpm signal that does the torque curve also does the bhp curve and hence interference accosiated with the torque curve (low rpm) should also show itself on the bhp curve ( high rpm)? Russell ps - Craig, I've replied to your email. I'll speak to you on here again in about an hour. I need to see if the lads are working outside or not.....lazy Indians!
Carl Davey Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 That second paragraph is just words to me Russ. [] If it helps the main flywheel graph is power versus speed (mph) with AFRs overlaid.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Mac-attack, What BHP were you making on the rollers ? Just curious to see Does anyone have list for every car that was on the RR ? Cheers Cal
Rossco_ Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Yeh i was gonna say that myself there Russel, people who jibber on about bhp are probably the sort who tell their mates all about it in the pub, anyone who plays about with cars worth their salt will know that torque is where its at. Thats how i knew pretty quickly that a certain 'tuning company' in aberdeen were going to be crap, he was tellin me where i could be making the bhp, never mentioned torque. I left Mon the torque
euan_r Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 cal - 360 making one up to put user names against fiqures. Theres already one up for figures against reg nos in other thread, posted by 360.
simon_mcwilliam Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I never ate all the Peanut Kit Kats Craig If I ate them all it was only cause there was only one left!!! Simon
simon_mcwilliam Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Craig I hope your smile will not be as HUGE as mine Simon.
craig mac Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Simmie LOL, Y ou did well with all that temptation. Cal i only run 289.? 227 @wheels Map seriously required!! but there is a plan in action when Wuz is home next m8!! See his comment about looking out for me in his rear view mirror[] Carl I agree, but i have been told i could, should have with correct map topped 330 m8 with no problems....... We will see if your full decat is fit next run mate[]rotflmao Craig
steven_williams Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 cal - 360 making one up to put user names against fiqures. Theres already one up for figures against reg nos in other thread, posted by 360. As it showed full reg no's it has been removed. Once I can match the reg no's to usernames I will re-post the figures with username, whp and fwhp. If you are on the list for the meeting points and did not put your reg please can you pm me with it then I can get this on display. With regards to the RPM measurement when I have had mine on the rollers at TEG Sport, Steve Simpson uses a jumper lead to get the pulses for the injectors. Cheers Steve
craig mac Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Craig I hope your smile will not be as HUGE as mine Simon. EH? Craig
simon_mcwilliam Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Your quote from the post about the next time on the rollers.( you said that you would have the biggest smile out of us all)
craig mac Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Aye, but i seem to remember its still sitting at a certain garage..................... Oh yours might be bigger if you inhale the gas.............It might be safer[] On a serious note, Where did you get your earth kit from? and who fitted it? That may well get rid of a wee buzz i have in my wee Stereo set up...... Craig
simon_mcwilliam Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 (Aye, but i seem to remember its still sitting at a certain garage..................... Got earth kit off usa ebay. Kev fitted it. ps very cheap from states well worth waiting 7 to 10 days delivery.
iain_ogston Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 I asked japerformance gent what torque mine was doing and he said come back so he could wire into the ECU to get RPM, since the ht reader is inaccurate. Suppose I should get it fixed, since it appears my actuator is struggling beyond 1.2 bar and I run 1.5 all the time! Rolling road only pushed the car to 1.35 bar, so more to come from my motor once it's all fixed up and possibly remapped again (it's too rich at low load and ignition timing could be much tighter - more power). Might as well get an intercooler and turbo while I'm at it lol
craig mac Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Simon Do you think that that would help the earth buzz on the Hi Fi? Craig
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Cal i only run 289.? 227 @wheels Map seriously required!! but there is a plan in action when Wuz is home next m8!! Craig That's not too disasterous given the air temperature on the day. The same run in March may have easily yielded 300 bhp. A remap should see you gain another 30 -40 bhp with muchos torque. The switchable map is real cool as well I always thought PPP claims were never that accurate anyways e.g a WRX putting out 260 bhp would likely be nearer 240-245 bhp ? Sorry for not being able to hang around any longer but i did get the chance to meet a few new coupons [] Cheers CGS
craig mac Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Cal I am also informed that the 05 can not be dual mapped[] Craig
simon_mcwilliam Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 (Do you think that that would help the earth buzz on the Hi Fi?) Not sure if this would sort it out. Have you tried to earth the stereo straight from the battery or to a different earth point on the car?
redscoobydoo Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Here ye are !... will be in touch wi ye , boot alloys
