still havent got round to fitting z4 ecu . have been told i can only fit it if my turbo is a tdo5 as tdo4 will cause engine detonation.

Basically the Euro imports are the same as a UK spec car ( give or take a bit ), the turbo on your car should be a TD04, unless it is an STI.

I hope this helps!

Dan, Firstly, the best thing to do is check what type of ECU you have in the car.

I'm sure you know, It is located in the passenger foot well under the carpet, you will need to undo 4 of 5 10mm bolts and take off the metal foot plate.

The ECU is located under this, then undo the small philips screws with the appropriate screw driver and look inside the ECU.

You are looking for a piggy back board located on the face of the ecu, it will be approx 3" long and 2" wide.

If you have one of those then all you need to do is get some new chips re-flashed with higher boost pressure ext.

I hope this helps a bit, if you need anymore info JK is the man to speak to on the ECU.

It is best to check your ECU first as it could save you a fair bit of money if you have the piggy back board!

If we are talking JDM imports then yes they do have a TD05 turbo.

But if it is a EURO import which is different then they come with ( I think ) a TD04 turbo.

Basically a euro import is the same as a uk car.

Dan, What car have you actually got, is it a JDM import or a European import ( they are different ).

Your original post says it is a Euro import, but your spool up sounds like a TD05 unit which is a JDM car ( jananese domestic market ).

pretty sure car is a euro import , think it was imported from cyprus.

dont think it is a jap as it hasnt got the tell tale signs like rear wiper/colour coded ect.

may be a ltd edition or something as it has a sunroof as well as air con .(first scoob ive seen with sunroof)

I saw a TypeR with a sunroof, once (or Twice) [:D]

Yours sounds like a Euro = TD04.

That is nothing to worry about as an 05 can be had quite easily.

its a bit of a wierd car .had some mad interior as standard which lookrd like it came out of a mk3 escort. all wiring is same as uk spec . but dials are reversed. ie fuel is on the right and temp on the left. also has SUBARU badges across the boot which is uk, but has jap style WRX graphic .

am well confused at the moment. looks like a cross between the two.
