oz *sti* Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 car looks clean and tidy - do you know the history of the car what mods have been done? mileage? when did it come to the u.k etc, etc...... Oz.
paul_honthy Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Very nice mate. One thing i will say about owning a black motor is its an absolute nightmare to keep clean and all scratches and imperfections stand out a great deal more than on another colour of car.
Rossco_ Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 That will be a type R then? Looks nice mate, go for it
rabskyline Posted June 30, 2006 Author Posted June 30, 2006 it belongs to a guy from the skyline forum i know ! yes its a type r and its been here 2 years and is mint but getting the full spec later ! are type r's special ?? i used to have a black r33 and it was gorgous when clean but terrible to keep clean !
ANDYJDMSTI Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Very nice!!! There are a couple of people on here who have black type r's (playsatan and jacqui) both cars are top notch!! I would class them as "special motion lotion" []

col666 Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 Make sure its had a rebuild! type r's bottom ends can crap out around about 50k-60k
rabskyline Posted July 1, 2006 Author Posted July 1, 2006 Make sure its had a rebuild! type r's bottom ends can crap out around about 50k-60k why is that ?? are different from other sti's ?? or are they soft too ??
johnnyr6 Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 No difference, all sti's have strong, reliable engines that can take a lot of abuse. The probs come from different thinks (like any performance car) as long as they have had regular oil changes with quality oil, have been remapped for uk fuel ou ran woth optimax and booster they should be fine. Another prob is the maf, aftermarket air filters which havn't been looked after properly let crap by and onto the maf which kills em, this can lead to a failed engine. My advice would be, if you but it, change the cambelt (unless you know when it was last changed) and get it on the rollers to make sure everything is ok.... then enjoy. I know of a few big power sti's on standard internals with more than 80k and still going strong.
colin_ross Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 Make sure its had a rebuild! type r's bottom ends can crap out around about 50k-60k Ahhhh, the type r myth. When I took mine out it had 60k on it and it was a minter. Never saw anymore that 15 knock count on it even with 7 deg extra advance on it.
