st3ph3n Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Chaps, I'm going to CD2 the engine tomorrow evening hopefully. Any tips on going about doing it? What should I be wrapping up electrics wise and where abouts are they. I cleaned the dash and interior trim last night, probably wash the rest of it tonight, then the CD2 and a good hoovering will have it ready for Saturday afternoon.
Carl Davey Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Nothing! You can stick a bit of cardboard over the intercooler if you think you're a bit clumsy with the power washer. I tend to just run the engine after i've finished rinsing it to vape any moisture around the electrics.
st3ph3n Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 Power hose is making odd compressing noises ever 5 seconds and isn't working right, so just the regular hose for me! Probably on a light sprinkle at first to see how that goes.
darryl_martin Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Only thing with the CD2 is to do it in the open!!!! Potent stuff. I went for a drive first so the engine was warm then just hosed off the grime avoiding obvious electrical bits like fuse box and alternator etc, didn't powerwash, hose was sufficient. Jury's out on the spray on laquer, to me looks just as good without. Tyre blackener spray is good on the hoses as well[Y]
wrxmania Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 DON'T spray it too close up - it looks messy and sticky (the shiny can stuff). It is very good though - but dirt sticks to it like glue after a while. Need to keep on top of it. Brian []
derek_robertson Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Don't breath the fumes either, this merchandise is no longer available due to the highly toxic vapour that it emits. Take care, always read the label, Del
