Roadrunner Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Having only owned my scooby four weeks, Ive noticed that almost no one wants to leave me alone at the lights, everyone seems to want to take me on and show me what there car will do! I must say I find it a little unnerving at times. Is this eveyones experience? or is it cos Im a girl? The roads have turned from a place where I have fun to one where I encounter aggressiveness.
moneys Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 from the title i thought someone was waving the willy at you. as for your problem just laugh at them thats what i do or even better just stare at them in there little saxo,s and shake your head, that really winds them up
Roadrunner Posted June 21, 2006 Author Posted June 21, 2006 from the title i thought someone was waving the willy at you. They are, so to speak! Lol! I know I should ignore them, or pull the "deep scorn, is that your gf's car?" face, but Im shocked by the extent of it, and just a little intimidated at times.
J0nah Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 get your windows tinted and it all goes away. I get it all the time and it used to do my head in. Now I just watch them pull away and let them p1ss other people off. Don't let it get to you and don't rise to the bate. I once thought about putting a "baby on board" sticker in my car (ain't got kids either). Save it for the track, that's my moto. Just have fun in the mean time[]
*Andy* Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Scoob ownership can have that side effect, I don't notice it or care anymore, just take no notice and don't rise to it, unless you want to of course[]
Jenni Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 I get that a lot Clare too, I just tend to ignore them or laugh. The majority of the time they just want to see the car go fast or see how you can drive it being a girl. As you say, they are probably driving about in 'Daddy's' car or it is funded by 'Daddy'. They ain't worth wasting your petrol on. Just enjoy your brum, brum safely! [au]
Nudge Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 I seem to have the same problems but mine are generaly late teenagers in vauxhall corsa's.[:^)]... it gives me a larf..[]. Sit at the lights, give it the revs and such like, wait till the lights change....................they screem off... then just sit there for a couple of seconds..[*-)]...and larf......its more fun.........[H] nigs
Roadrunner Posted June 21, 2006 Author Posted June 21, 2006 Im trying not to rise to it, and yes tis fun to just let them scream off bouncing off the rev limiter and pistons leaping out through bonnet, then potter along happy in the knowledge that I dont have or need a willy to wave!
blue boy Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 and remember anyone can go fast (eventually) in a straight line LOL!
Roadrunner Posted June 23, 2006 Author Posted June 23, 2006 and remember anyone can go fast (eventually) in a straight line LOL! Too true, and Im so impressed by people doing 90mph.............................................................. 45mins later!
darryl_martin Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Let my g/f take mine into work a couple of times. On one occasion she was baited by an MR2 speeding up, slowing down, speeding up going down a hill. She let it go. Only because she'd knocked her phone when she got in it which had rung her mate (a copper), who told her there was a speed trap at the bottom of the hill that morning. Fate/comedy call it what you will[] I just smile and let them go

Roadrunner Posted June 30, 2006 Author Posted June 30, 2006 I always get told that my fella is brave to let me drive his car funny thing is its mine i just laugh.... Lol -twas chattering to a policeman few days after I got mine, mentioned to him that all the police cars I pass seem to check out whos driving my car, he agreed that they would, but would also ignore mine cos they would think I was driving b/f's car! Some good comes of it all! fine with me that coppers think this and leave me alone! He drove a 3.2, 16v vectra in the line of duty (shame bout the paint work) and a evo VIII for home use! Nice work if you can get it!
Little H Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Just rev it really loud then pull off at minimum revs and let there rubber burn the lemins
Criss Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Just rev it really loud then pull off at minimum revs and let there rubber burn the lemins Rev it is what I usually do then just as im about to pull off I look and give them the little pinky wave and wink! I find myself 200 meters down the road with a smile, every time I think how embarassed that citroen/ford/vauxhaul/bmw/merc/toyota driver must feel infront of his lady friend [H]

tony_cousins Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Lol just let them do there thing, makes them feel big to race a scooby lol Let them get in front a little and then blip the throttle, get in front and smile [] If its a bloke he will be gutted as many men dont like to be beaten by a female []
Dalthegooner Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Point at them and then sit there pis*ing yourself laughing []

Nice work if you can get it! Fully agree with you there, if i see a police car i always smile at them (it cant hurt) and i've never been pulled in the scoob (YET!) but when i've let my other half use it the police have pulled him. Guess they just think your female and have no idea how to drive properly let alone break the law.[] If anyone tries it on with me at the lights etc i just shake my head, smile sweetly and laugh, I no whats under my bonnet and i know what she's capable of, and it certainly aint a 1.6 corsa lump with ripspeed airfilter and electronic dumpvalve[] Dont let them get to you, you have the superior knowledge and probably driving skill.
Roadrunner Posted July 10, 2006 Author Posted July 10, 2006 How funny, tonights was a little girly in a 1.4 fiesta, trying it on at all the lights round a lights controlled roundabout, Im getting the hang of it now, made loads of noise, (laughing that is), watched her pistons jump through the bonnet while she tried it on, bf in car, prob egging her on, then when she cut across my lane and really annoyed me gave it loads, and was doing illegal amounts of speed before i exited the slip road! (sorry officer was doing a nice sedate 70mph) was gonna make a rude gesture but they were a blip in my rear view so didnt bother taking hands of steering wheel! So not like me, personality is changing with the car! As for being pulled by the police officers, Im yet to be pulled in scoob, but already have a history of being pulled and getting away with it, I like our local officers, very understanding blokes I find! Very nice chaps, one and all! But kids remember , speeding is not big and clever and just not funny!!!!!!!!!!!!
ScoobyBird! Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Cheers for that Loony Toon i will keep that in mind for next time.... I've been told that birds shouldnt drive fast cars lol jealousy makes the world go round......
Stressymare Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 girls shudnt drive wagons either but they do []
Roadrunner Posted August 6, 2006 Author Posted August 6, 2006 Im actually getting used to the effect the scoob has on every 1.1 saxo it passes, and really starting to enjoy it all! Like I was told I would!
