T123VOR Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I thought id plonk this Question here too Whats that little round plastic bit on the dash in the middle near the window? Could i feed the satnav cable through that - im having the satnav on the a-pillar though. or is there a better feed out to the a-pillar? When ive got the HU out shall i (can i) just connect the powerlead from the satnav to the stereo power lead? Trevor
baser999 Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Trevor, its beginning to sound a bit involved m8 - instead why not run the power from a very very long extension lead and just plug it in at home everytime you go out - it'll mean having to keep a car window open to feed the wire through but in this weather that shouldn't be a problem lol []. You'll also be able to trace your route home - handy if you're with Micky w.
markie Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Would you like me to come round and help fit this for you[Y] I'll bring my biggest hammer so dont see any complications[][]
baser999 Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I reckon 20 mins with me and Markie helping and jobs a good'un - and that includes stopping for tea. How does 3o'c Saturday sound Trevor? That'll gimme time to get to B&Q for that lead []
granby Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 It's not worth thinking about [] Markie & Baser999 working on your car [:|]
darryl_martin Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Dash pocket was about £15 from stereo shop. Its am autoleads one in mine, but itts black, not silver. Little round thing in the dashboard? Is it in the middle up by th windscreen, if it is I think its part of the temperature sensor. Previous owner of my car had a snooper, I've still got the wire coming through by the windscreen, don't know if it just pushes through, can't see any holes but then haven't looked too hard. Will have alook tomorrow for you. If it's going on the a pillar, where do the people who have gauges up there put their wires through, is there a small gap at the base?

T123VOR Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Saturday sounds good assuming all items arrive! I'll phone foxes today about the pocket- should be next day delivery?? Cable, harness and speaker adaptors ordered yesterday! I'll get the speakers and HU by saturday Having spoke to my work colleagues they reckon DONT fit the satnav cos (remember I live in Snodland!) chavs/pikeys/naughty boys will break into you car and steal it. Which although untidier is obviously a better plan- so i think i ll just do the stereo and speakers Barry as for the extension lead- erm... i'll think about it..... alot....... Trevor
baser999 Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 In the absence of any response last night m8y, me and me extension lead and Markie with his big hammer are taking our much honed skills elsewhere - we know where we're valued!. We know when we're not wanted [] Go on, get some electrically qualified bloke in to help you........see if we care []
T123VOR Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Last night? Barry I'd gone to bed! I'd like anyone to help me- hammers/extension leads/cheese-based snacks/etc Couple of hours i'll make the tea and some jam tarts Trevor

T123VOR Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Surely a pool of knowledge is better? The more the merrier? A meeting of great minds? A problem shared....? A bird in the hand....? One flew over the cuckoos nest? Togo in the World Cup??? Trevor

HOL Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Whats that little round plastic bit on the dash in the middle near the window? If it is like a little black 'counter' on the top, the it is a sensor for the air con. Best not to play with it []
