Hi sorry for this but im still a novice when it comes to scooby engines, im going to do a fault diagnostic check on my 99 uk turbo tomorrow but i'd thought i'd ask u guys advice first. Here goes....  soob starts ok then idles for about 5 secs then dies! this started yesterday but after an hour of trying it and letting it sit (incase it was flooded) i eventually managed to get it going and make it home with no probs which made me think i had flooded it but when i tryed to start it this morning it just didnt play ball.any ideas? Ive checked the hoses and fuel pump and they seem fine. sorry if i have went on a bit but had a few to many stellas since i cant drive

Yor MAF is dead by the sounds of it.Same symptoms I had and it was the MAF............I'd be 99% sure thats your problem!Get this checked ASAP & don't try driving in the meantime as you have an increased chance of creating problems.A MAF isn't a wallet killer, but a blown engine is!

(MAF=mass air flow/the big black plastic thing on the left as you look at the engine)

Of course you may have an induction kit on and it maybe something else, but thats my best guess @ this time/state in the morning!!!

yeah i would change out the maf and then clean out the iac valve (2 min job)

maf sensor is £70 if that helps ! and if its a classic 99 like mine you just have to connect the green and black plugs under the steering cowl to get a fault code and if you get a fault code of 26 iirc then that is your maf sensor hth !

sorry guys but a 95 MAF and 99 MAF are totally different. Best to get the £70 MAF from subaru or find another 99/00 model owner.
