Guest v8voodoo Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Just wanted to say Hi to everyone who's cars I had a good look over at the Wharf meet last week. I only called in on the off chance as I'd got stuck on the M25 coming back into Kent from St Albans, rang work and took the night off, so thought I'd find the Wharf and have a nose around..! Was nice to meet Pele who pointed out and named everyone who was there (impressive memory!!!). Sorry I didn't stop long and chat to more of you as I was pretty shot after driving continuously since around 1pm earlier that day. Some lovely cars in the car park, and quite a few ideas gained. Thanks to Granbies wagon I'm definitiely going the STi Aero front bumper corner route and possibly a front detango provided I can pluck up the courage to bake my lights in the oven..lol!! I've also just ordered a Hayward & Scott centre decat over on a group buy on Sc**bynet. Seems you've inspired me onto the slippery slope of messing with my Scoob..!! Hope to meet you properly again soon...!! Regards, Nige. MY03 WRX
mick_weatherill Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Hi ya nige i was the one getting in my car that you spoke to . Glad you found the others ok .Your exhaust ive got a de cat second pipe to fit your car if your interested £40 to you let me no mate [Y]. That slope is getting more slippery!![]

That's strange as i don't have STi aero corners as my front bumper is standard unless someones been fitting them to my car without me knowing [] Go for the de-tango, about 10 mins in the oven at the lowest setting [Y]
T123VOR Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 You'll notice my name on that group buy too!! My cars only 7 months old and im kissing the warranty goodbye![] it's for the best! You won't have seen it at the meet as it's still in the repair shop being er... repaired (they now reckon tomorrow as the reg lights didnt work ----FFS!) Ive just got the bulbs to detango mine too so i'll let you know how it goes OR i might organise an afternoon round mine for some detangoing action (i'll get the missus to make some vol-au-vents) I'm sure the more experienced detangoee's will help If anyone else is thinking of doing it let me know I'm also doing my stereo (hopefully this weekend if anyone has any tips they would be appreciated) AND hardwiring my satnav if i can get my SIDC membership sorted by sunday ill be up for Santa Pod too Phew Trevor
darryl_martin Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 I'm also doing my stereo (hopefully this weekend if anyone has any tips they would be appreciated) Try www.chiark.com, very useful site. Also to get some decent depth front speakers in the front door some corsa spacers form halfords do the job (a little ingenuity needed but not much). Managed to get my stereo out, wire in the amp at the back and put it all back in about 15 minutes first time. Hope the cars alright when you get it back. When mine went in they had it for two weeks, (I was on holiday so wasn't bothered) thought that would be plenty of time. Then 13 days in I get a phonecall, where's the locking wheel nut spanner......I needed a wing, surely they'd had the wheel off by now!!!!!? No, apparently when valeting the car they like to put the shiny tyre stuff on the inside of the tyres too and that's why they needed to take the wheel off!!!!!! As you say FFS. Wonder why insurance premiums keep rising[:@] Again, hope you're happy with it Just thought your's might be an 05, so http://www.ehgp.com/public/impreza_my05_hu_removal/ worth a look too
baser999 Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 I'm also doing my stereo (hopefully this weekend if anyone has any tips they would be appreciated) Yep.........don't play ABBA

Probably a simple thing but i am simple so there!! Cheers Trevor

Cheers Trevor Let a pro do that, but looks like they took out the plastic bits on the sills to get under the carpet (haven't looked on this one but previous cars these were only clipped in, or a screw at each end and clips) and they took out the rear bit of the seat you sit on and passed the cables under the bit you lean on. Grommet used to go from the engine bay was the one in the passenger footwell(for the power cable) Having run the power cable, switch cable and rca leads to the back of the car looks like they then forgot to wire it in to the back of the stereo!!!!!! That's the bit I did. Most important parts are to make sure the power cable off the battery has a suitable fuse near the battery, and any cable you pass through metal has a grommet to prevent rubbing and earthing. Would try it myself next time, just didn't want to break anything on my new scoob.
darryl_martin Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Just been out, plastic sill bits just unclip with one screw or plug at the front. Could then see my amp wires under the carpet. I'm only running a sub in the boot, don't know how difficult it would be to run wires from the body of the car to the doors, assuming you're doing it as one complete piece of cable and not cutting into the stuff subaru put in.
T123VOR Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Cheers Er....yes i think the pros can do that bit! Trevor
granby Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Running the power cable is no problem as the trim just unclips, the only problem i had was getting the power cable through the big grommet into the engine bay (but i was using quite a big cable) and of course i don't have a bulkhead to get through for the boot []
T123VOR Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I think ill just stick to the door speakers and the HU Whats that little round plastic bit on the dash in the middle near the window? Could i feed the satnav through that - im having the satnav on the a-pillar though When ive got the HU out shall i just connect the powerlead from the satnav to the stereo power lead? I phoned Waldonway about the forester pocket but they didnt phone back? Ive phoned a few times regarding other parts before that havent been answered- dont they want my money? Are foxes offering us a discount yet- i may go there instead[] Trevor
Dalthegooner Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Foxes are offering us discounts. Keep refreshing the page and you'll see their banner come up under the last post.
