Nice video mate. Thats what subaru is designed for, owned for and driven for. Looks like a good smooth run and is a good video[:D]

A wee bit more-

tight on the right handers

wide on the left handers is needed

Used to do that sort of speeds on a backroad 10 years ago, at the time I was in my early twenties and drove a modified Cosworth, self preservation takes a little more precedence nowadays though.

You might be an excellent driver but its the unknown which could kill you

Personally Id have chosen a road with fewer junctions and houses but not my 3 month ban.

At 130mph you are travelling at approx 55m per second ..... assuming half a second reaction time and say 5 secs hard braking to stop the car then you would have travelled a meer 302.5m ......the length of  3 football pitches......... better to choose a quieter road or the track as its not the driver of the fast car that neccessarily causes the problem but often the slower object in its path.

Your maths don't work.

0.5x55m = 27.5m

5x55m=275m

=302.5m, as you say.

But for those 5 seconds of hard braking your speed is in constant decrease and you wont be covering the same distance.

Still, 130mph = f*****.

if you had a blow out on the straight at KH you could be end ex.

if you had a blow out or lost control on the 1/4 mile at crail you could be end ex

if you hit a tree at 60mph on the way to work? same detail.

If you put your butter knife in the toaster? same thing.[:D]

After 4 bottles of bud f*** *ll works.

Tomorrow try seeing how long it takes you to bring your car to a complete stop from 130mph.........it is longer than you think ....and youll be braking in a straight line ..on a dry road ...and you knew that you were going to brake....And Ive got big brakes fitted to my car (this was the first mod, probably gettin to old eh?)

....and what about the 12 year old paper boy on his bike, pulling out of someones driveway after delivering the local paper. Hit at 30mph = the end, hit at 60mph = shoes found 260 yards apart from each other. Thats one of the cases I had on jury service. (boy was hit in a 30mph zone)

Kind of hits home when you hear the boys father give evidence against the tosser driving as he saw his only son killed in front of his eyes. (he was parking his car in his driveway on the opposite side of the road.)

What kind of speed was going on in that clip - 120 + ??.......on a public road....

I'm speechless

We all do a back road blast once in a while and if yous don't then why did you buy a scoob...

Yeh they look good on your driveway and sounds the dogs dangleies with the exhaust that you've put on but ultimately i want performance from mines and great handling.....KH and Crail and back roads for me but if the roads looks dangerous then don't do it.

I'm not going to pass judgement cos i've done some stoopid things in the past, i do still drive fast at times and there is no denying i bought a Subaru for its speed......... Generally a lot more cautious about where i do it now though....

Altho part of that is cos i have 6 points!

On another note i was driving between Greenock and Kilmacolm at the weekend and that is a superb road! Not one for high speeds but loads of nice bumps n bends with good visibility through most of it!

I recently heard about this road also and was recently re-surfaced....with a hump in the road too.[Y]Is that the road?

Philip, don't let anyone put you off. There's an air of safety round these parts just now. And why shouldn't there be of course. The last thing any of us wants to do is attend the funeral of one of our own.

Yes you're travelling fast, but I don't see any particularly big gambles.

We all take risks, but I hope for everyone's sake they're well calculated ones. I never drive at my or the cars limits on the roads, that's what the track is for. I don't let that stop me having a bit of fun where I can do it in a manner that accounts for the safety of others around me and myself as much as I can.

I am a reformed character. We drove to our destination on Sunday not going over 80mph until we got to some of the twistie twisties in the middle of no where and it was good.

try taking the journey up to KH at the speed of light and pushing hard. count the time it takes

try taking the journey back down without thrashing the gears and brakes. count the time it takes

The most fun i had was doing the latter and carving good lines rather than going berzerk.

I do think though that some people need to have a word with themselves about this. If you dont drive fast in your scoob, ie even 10mph over the speed limit then fair play to you (not the car i would have for normal driving/fuel consumption). If you break the speed limit at all then you are a hypocrite in this case as its there for a reason!!

If you think that clip is overly dangerous then maybe you should let your husbands drive your own cars after you grow old and wish you had enjoyed life. Yes there are dangers and yes something bad could happen.

The balance is needed. Phillip is enjoying himself and generally driving well. Yes there are a couple of areas he could improve but if he keeps doing it there wont be any cause for complaint.

I dont now, but if people want to then post up a clip to show "other enthusiasts" then whats the dramas.

Do you really sit down to pish?

Yip, the majority of it is re-surfaced and there a couple of little humps... had the gf in the car so wasn't going particularly quick but i'm pretty sure you could fairly easily get off the ground over the hump!

Just stumbled on it by chance out on a leisurely Saturday (sunny) evening jaunt.....
