ROAR Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 IMHO! You cant change the voting half way through, the rules should have been stipulated b4 you voted![:$] So you either scrap the vote and start again, the new rules specified so everyone is aware of whats goin on or you suck it and see! [] Stopping the vote does not work for me, but adding some obvious common sense does. this vote is a continuation of the first poll that was started on the 9th May. http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/679038/ShowPost.aspx If you were registered before that date on the SIDC site in your current name and have a post count of more that '10' at that time, then I think you can vote. Otherwise your only contribution to the KS IS the vote which officially started on the 9th. If this excludes you I am sorry, but it is the only fair way to cut out all the problems associated with inactive members returning after a number of months and family friends. My family unit qualifies for 4 votes! - That just aint right. The only losers in this logic are those whose. old user names were lost when the BBS was upgraded. However, if you were really that interested, you would have been back before now. Sorry, but the 9th May, was the qualification date. And if we don't know you, .......... This is all very well and I appreciate that there needs to be some common sense applied to the vote, But this suggestion counts out the votes of new "genuine" members who may like to have a say on the colours they will potentialy wear to represent the club.[:'(] At the end of the day if the shirts look good, and are the right price, then i'm sure most will wear them.
HOL Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 But this suggestion counts out the votes of new "genuine" members who may like to have a say on the colours they will potentialy wear to represent the club. Unfortunately, you are correct. But there is a requirement to draw the line somewhere. [] I think you are one of the true victims here.
matthew_buckland Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Its a shame that it has come to this especially for the new members who are commited to KS ROAR and Nudge who have posted 32 and 26 respectivly will now have to lose out on a vote because long standing members cannot agree on how and when to vote. I understand Hol that a line has to be drawn somewhere to stop this becoming a waste of time and vote, i just feel its a shame. (maybe i a bit bias). Personally after all this i doubt whether anyone will be bothered with the t-shirts anyway. But hey i'm usually proved wrong....[]
granby Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Sue could you redo your vote for the t-shirts as when i deleted a post yours got deleted along with it SORRY [:$] Cheers Ian

Personally after all this i doubt whether anyone will be bothered with the t-shirts anyway. But hey i'm usually proved wrong....[] I think we all agree it is a shame. I do not think anyone can say otherwise. Especially when you consider that people like ROAR and NUDGE have joined us in the middle of an exercise that has yet to be finalised. If I were them I would be gutted, but rightly or wrongly, their timimg is out. The issue does not seem to be restricted to long standing members only by any means, though. As said a line has to be drawn, before all rules get stretched. The best place to draw a line on any exercise is either the beginning or the end. Unfortunately not the middle. The whole object of the exercise was to find an outright winner, (hence the 3 vs 1 vote). I have to agree that recent voting has been inconsistent to the earlier votes. The exercise was supposed to be transparent so this sort of thing could not happen.
Wee Jock Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Hol, some people do know me on here and I have been a SIDC memeber for the past two years! I normally work away from home and generally cant get to meets etc! Although I did manage Japfest! []
HOL Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Hol, some people do know me on here and I have been a SIDC memeber for the past two years! I normally work away from home and generally cant get to meets etc! Although I did manage Japfest! [] I should think we all do. You are also first Joined on 06 Jan 2005, a good 14 months before 9th May 2006. as such you have no eligibility issues??? If someone has told you otherwise, please let me know and I will gladly clarify it for them.
tony_cousins Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Andy, although I agree with your thinking it really is not fair to not include the new members who have recently bought there cars and are active members of the club. There vote as a member is just as valid as mine or yours, and if they are indeed to be part of the club they should be allowed a say in the club colours. Maybe allowing only club members and one other member of there family ie wife/partner etc a vote would be a better way of dealing with it ???? This will cater for people like dals and markies wife and the little people like my daughter. Only a thought which might be acceptable to all, after all we would like to keep the new members who have gone out a bought new cars so they can be part of this club cheers Tony
granby Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Come on everyone lets all pull together for once on the t-shirts as at the moment we are being made to look so stupid to the whole of the SIDC
tony_cousins Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Well said that man !!!!!!!!!!! Give him a gold star ............
ROAR Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 so true!!! i agree. the club should pull together in times of strife!! recent threads on different forums within the SIDC mention that its all about a bunch of people getting on, enjoying themselves and pulling togeteher when needed. (maybe this is just coincidence or a little pop????)
HOL Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Andy, although I agree with your thinking it really is not fair to not include the new members who have recently bought there cars and are active members of the club. No, its not fair. [] That is a point that cannot and should not be disputed. But, as I said above a line has to be drawn somewhere. At some point or other people will be either one side, or the other. I looked for a suitable time to make a judgement on, and to be quite honest, there was no way that everyone could win. We have, as a club been attempting to agree on a colour for over two months. To accommodate as may people as possible, I have set a date in line with the first official vote.I treated it as I would a decision at work, looking at all the risks (including reputational) and this particular course of action is the only one that has any credibility. This is a neccassary evil and not something that was thought up out of desparation. Personally, I have voted for my own colour suggestion first, and the Fox's one second. To me that was the right thing to do, so I feel justified in my impartiality over this matter.
HOL Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Come on everyone lets all pull together for once on the t-shirts as at the moment we are being made to look so stupid to the whole of the SIDC This is a worthy statement of intent. I would like to ask all recent joiners to understand that we are not seeking to exclude them from the vote for any personal interest, but because the process has become flawed in its design, because a line was not drawn earlier. I would also like to ask them to be patient and await the outcome, which should generate a 'genuine' clear winner, based on all the colours suggested by members.
phil Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Here comes my 2 euro's [;0] You will never please everybody, THERE IS NO POINT TRYING When Essex suggested a "Summer 2005" Shirt few could have beleived what actually came from it I vowed that you would never see me in Pink [or Rasberry if your watching Gangsta] But off Tiny went and ordered the first Dozen Over a year later the Shirt has come to be recognised as THE colour for Essex we had a debate about a colour change for 2006 but thought what the hell, people were still ordering Pink. Tiny still takes orders for different colours but Official ESC Outings are deemed PINK EVENTS. However if you choose not to wear pink then its not a problem I myself am now proud to be seen in Pink [] So Make your decision tonight and go for it regardless Of course if you disagree thats your right []
tony_cousins Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Thank you Obi wan !!! Words of wisdom from our mighty leader ...... Bow down and grovel ......... Cheers Phil Tony
Pele Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 I can't believe this is still being argued about - I've looked on loads of other car forums and none of them seem to have this problem - a colour gets chosen and that's that and everyone wears it and is proud to wear that colour because it represents 'their' club. Why can't we be like this? Foxs were kind enough to agree to sponsor us and pay towards the cost of these t-shirts, yet when the colour they suggested was put up all hell broke loose! It's just made this club look like a bunch of arguing school kids [] What must they be thinking if they are following the thread - I wouldn't be suprised if they were thinking of not sponsoring us at all and that would be a great shame, both for us and for them. Perhaps we should just have the colour that has no votes? Then no arguments []
tony_cousins Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Well all im going to say is lets be positive from now on, wait to see the final vote tonight and then whatever the colour is thats it !!!!!! At the end of the day we will all look the same and be known by our colours !!!!!!!! Tony
granby Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 A decision will be made tonight [] I agree with Hol about anyone who registered after the voting start date of 9th shouldn't be counted, i know this will upset a few but i feel this is the best way forward Now what do we do about members family who want to vote, my suggestion is if they would like to vote then they discuss it with the family members and decide which colours they would like and then the K/S member casts the vote. I hope this is acceptable to everyone and we can carry on normally with Kent Scoobies [] []
granby Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 At the end of the day we will all look the same and be known by our colours !!!!!!!! Tony Maybe i don't want to look the same as you [] []
