Suspension Experts needed ....Do you remember I said.....

I wasn't technical.....well I need some help...

On the way up to Knockhill on Sat I heard some very loud knocking from the back passenger side suspension...I nearly sh** myself and pulled over but nothing was visible. It happenend again a few more times on the way up to the track, but I began to notice more that the car felt very very unstable conering especially going roug rh bends....it also felt like it was skipping out of line....feels terrible and quite frightening sometimes.....[]

So I am guessing that my back shock has gone? could it be anything else.....

So what sort of money am I looking at for new shocks ..Do I need to replace all of them or just the duff one.....the only thing is whilst the car has eibach springs Im not sure what the shocks are.....as the previous owner upgraded everything else to sti spec or better....as spooks will testify after looking at my brake set up......but ..I dont know if he did the shocks or not.....

So what is my best course of action.....shocks all round....or just one shiny new one...???????[:'(]

Was thinking of calling in Hypertech and asking them to look at the car....any ideas??

If it was me i would get both rears done as they seem to be the weak link. Pointless getting one done for the other to go, treat it like brake discs and pads.

I know mine is a new age and JDM but my shocks are pink, unsure if they did they same with the bugley STI too. One possible way to tell if they are STI parts.

As far as i remember the UK sti struts were red, thats whats on my STi,

But I take it the rears have to be the same as the front????

so i would need to find out what is on the car......somehow...will check to see if I can see the colour..??

Sorry to hear that Paul.  Unfortunately, I am useless with mechanical stuff!  My mate has his own garage, used to be next to Hypertech before duncan moved!  He reckons its the springs, but advised to go straight to Hypertech!

The STI shockers are (pardon the pun) shocking on the STI'.s I got mine done (under warranty) by S&S last week. I see that your car is an 01 and therefore I assume the warranty has expired however also see that you have STI gear on there so there could be theme here. That said, mine developed slowly and I got it repaired almost immediately - yours sound rather scary, almost like my 205 GTI with a seized back beam, but that's another story!
