za - sti Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 struggling to find any info on the spec of the engine, can anyone assist. the new 2.5sti, what turbo and boost level does it run what injectors does the engine use what will the PPP pack hope to produce in terms of power, I assume more than the current 305bhp cheers for any help za

LOL [] No-one's tried the new 2.5 heads/cams yet, so we can't comment much on that side of things, but i dare say it'll be running the usual 0.9 bar or there-abouts. Had a test drive yet? I doubt they'll have made very many gains out the motor, over the old 2 litre. Not a significant gain anyways.
IanJ Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Having driven an 03 and an 06 back to back. I think the main difference is that it pulls from lower down. I assume this is down to more cc's and not gearing but it could be a mix of both. The difference is definately noticeable. It'd be interesting to see the dyno graphs for both cars. I felt the chassis was more nimble in the 06 but that might just be due to the diff bias allowing it to turn in quicker (i think the 06 is heavier than the 03). That was just on a 10 min run in both cars round a private road here in Perth.... I did ask if i could take both cars along to a track day this weekend to try them out but for some reason the salesman wasn't keen.... As for tech specs, sorry Matt no info here....the 03 was black and the 06 was blue if thats any help...
G.Mac Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 STi 8/9 both run 1.3 bar as standard so would assume 10 would be similar, was talking to John at S&S when I was in with my steering knock and he was saying that Prodrive have tried playing with the exhaust and map and were getting 320 bhp but when they changed the downpipe they were suffering from boost creep (the same as 8's and 9's) due to the wastegate being too small on the standard VF turbo to allow the excess boost out. I spoke to a guy who has an 8 and he didnt like the 10 as it wasnt as responsive, but I havent driven one for myself yet so cant comment So thats all I know, hope some of it might help Graeme

I would be JDM STI10 instead if i was buying as i prefer the 2.0L engine and it doesn't have the stupid WRX seat that the Type UK comes with.

My car being a malteser means it came with proper seats, albeit in simple black trim rather than black and blue in the STI. UK Spec had the ass friendly ones with the side air bags. They're of no use when you're in a 4g inverted dive with a MIG28.

johns Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 The PPP has been announced for the 2.5 models. 320PS, but a big increase ion torque for the STi. £1600 fully fitted and no impact on your warranty either. John
