colin_ross Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 With my car fast approaching it's final map I've bee thinking about letting it loose at SSO and the like. The thing is I know they've introduced a static 105db noise limit this year and I'm not sure if my car would pass. Does anybody have access, or know somewhere that does, to a db meter so that I could test it beforehand?
Rice Rocket Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 not much help here, but you can never be to loud in a scoob!!! RR
colin_ross Posted April 13, 2006 Author Posted April 13, 2006 Seriously Ricey, you need to hear this thing. It's feckin ridiculous.
Rice Rocket Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 IS it as loud as AndyJDm and Gumballs? Then thats cool!!! Can you not get a tail pipe muffler like what comes with the blitz etc to keep the noise down?
ormiboy Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 try reving the nuts off it in your local cop shop car park, im pretty certain they will be only too happy to oblige!!!! sorry i cant really help;)
dougster Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Adding a muffler could be dodgy if he wishes to pass noise regulations at the ScoobyShootOut. Two recently failed but managed to pass with bungs fitted but that could change. It's along way to go to be told you're too loud!!
colin_ross Posted April 13, 2006 Author Posted April 13, 2006 Have considered the bung method but as I'm moving to a MAP based map and away from the MAF it could mess up the fueling adding/removing it. Need to see just how close or over the limit I am.
Rice Rocket Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Ah! Thats what I ment, BUNGS!!! What size of pipe do you have, as I have a blitz bung sitting about if you want to try it? RR
colin_ross Posted April 13, 2006 Author Posted April 13, 2006 What size of pipe do you have? Hmmmmm, starting to get a bit personal now. It a big one I can assure you but would only go down that route as a last resort because of the fueling issues mentioned above. Big thanks for the offer though. Would it be too daft to ask the local cop shop to test it or would I be setting myself up for a big problem?
Rice Rocket Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Go to a Stereo shop that fits ICE gear and see if they have a Db measuring machine, XS motorsports in Hamilton or the place in Cambuslang could help you. RR
Guest Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 would an MOT garage not be able to carry out a db test just a thought
colin_ross Posted April 13, 2006 Author Posted April 13, 2006 Good idea!!! At least I can console myself that its not as loud as AndyJDM's (shirts).
steven_williams Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 would an MOT garage not be able to carry out a db test just a thought No mate they don't use a meter to test it's done by ear.
