scott_coull Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Serious personal opinion and observatrion. ! Is it just me or does Scottish Scoobies seem just a home for a select few to express there opinions/ personal fan clubs?Seems to me that although this place still offers certain acknowledgements to peoples questions, it seems more a west scoobies rather than Scottish scoobies. I myself feel more of an observer on the forum as I feel I can't contribute to threads, which mostly end up as an amusement to certain individuals, and the majority seem to be about Goats, Wilky, Gumball and Greersport related fan club threads. Is it just me or does there seem until about a week and a half ago that everyone whom posted seemed to have an erection about Hypertech BUT now the tides have turned to spring tides and most people seem to be turned to Greersport, (not a bad word to say about then might I add). Let me say this......Can't we pass a decision to create a Gumball/Willky/Fai (peter) etc to create section of Scottish scoobs to get rid of the Goat loving back patting cleak that is currently going within West Scoobs, sorry Scottish Scoobies, as I'm and i'm sure several others are getting fed up with the consatnt shite that is being posted on here. If you or any others ( Gumball, Wilky etc are not happy with this, feel free to PM or email me and I'll gladly express my opinions to you.) find this post offensive then send a PM to me or Phil Stevens as im sure others will appreciate this post, as It's SIDC ive paid a mebership fee to and not the West coast fan club/ I for one am fed up with the constant drivel on the site and wish the individuals would end it now and realise there is more than life to scoring brownie points on a forum. We love you West scoobies x x x Let the games begin

scott_coull Posted April 10, 2006 Author Posted April 10, 2006 No hugs, kisses or brown nosing need, juat an appreciation that this forum is going down hill!
bigdavie Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 hmm not been here long but in my short time here have met a good few true enthusiasts and as a newbie they have helped me out no end and to me that is what an owners club is all about !! and if this is it going downhill ... i would have loved to have seen it at its peak !!

dan_jess Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Very constructive post m8, i agree with some of it. However, i usually find the sheet that is posted quite funny. Also, even tho these guys like a joke, u cant forget the good work they do organising runs and the like for 'scottishscoobies'. [] Peter had a charity meal at his restaurant to raise money Gumball has organised runs in the past and is doing a September run Wilky has done an amazing job and put a lot of effort into the RB Memorial run.
ANDYJDMSTI Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Considering how many scoobies there are in the glasgow/ west area there are bound to be quite abit said about hypertech and Greers, considering how much good work both parties are doing for our Westerners cars. Just like AWD does for the north westerners cars. As for the rest of your bleeting, what do you propose..........all western scotland scoobiy owners have limited posting/ views on things?? Have a sense of humour bypass so it curbs some of the threads??? Stop hanging out/ getting on with eachother to also curb the banter some people have??? Like has been said already, the 3 guys you have singled out (unfairly in my eyes) have contributed a fair bit to this forum, which would probably be a duller place without some colourful characters. But then again sheltered people feel threatened by outgoing people!!! If it annoys you that much then why don't you move West if you feel out of it over in fife, failing that bite your tongue, don't read the threads by these people or go and join SNET!!!! Oh and one last point, seeing you singled out the 3 guys then why do you not take your own advice and consult them via PM if you have a problem???...........just a thought! have a nice day y'all!! []
wilky Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 LOL. Well, its makes a pleasant change to be on the receiving end for once.[] Why dont you post interesting stuff then, if your not happy with this PUBLIC forum? I really cannot remember the last time we had a westscoobs section infact, I live in Edinburgh, oh or Stirling. And have done for the past couple of years. The goat joke is getting a bit old though, thats probably why I havent made reference to it for about 3 months, is that how long its taken you to pluck up the courage to post. You obviously have a wee complex building there about east and west, Salt and vinegar, salt and sauce. Evening Times, evening News. etc etc. Im not sorry you feel the way that you do, and quite honestly I dont give two hoots about your opinion. I will PM you, and if you want a shot at the title, all you have to do is ask, Goat. Lots of Love Callum W xxxxxxxxxxx PS Your cars rubbish
RA Dunk Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 lol the joys of being scottish , nobody else to argue with so well do it among our selfs! []
frank c Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Another friendly day at the office then....Personally, i like a bit of the glesga banter ..it certainly brightens up the place . I could understand if these guys were posting up pi$h ALL of the time but i think if you dig a bit deeper or get to know these guys better you will find a wealth of scooby knowledge aswell...IMHO.. Frank.
st3ph3n Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 http://www.frappr.com/scottishscoobies - Just look where a lot of the people are clumped around. I think you've raised some points that maybe 3-6 months ago would have been entirely with merit, but the amount of "shat" posted is now fairly low. There's 3 threads on the first page that are "o/t". I remember when we struggled to find 3 threads that were on topic. Yes there's banter, and yes it often comes from the usual suspects (I've been known to contribute or be the target of it myself), but I for one wouldn't come here half as much if I didn't think I'd get a wee slice of humor with my technical advice and general SCOTTISH scooby related chit-chat.
wrxmania Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Scottish Scoobies and SIDC has a great amount to offer from both high tariff users to those who browse occasionally, an may never post. The number of "guest" people who browse the forums is often way more than the number of members signed in - you can see that on the SIDC forums home page. Any West Coast bias is purely down to location of active members, although many members from the East Coast, fife and elsewhere post. Most topics are not geographically specific. Compared to many forums, and in spite of extranious posts and O/T stuff, generally posting recently has been constructive, car related and appreciated by most. But as Scottish Scoobies is one area often used to hold posts, which would take up some entire forums, the diversity is always going to be there. Thinking back to what was available to us 2 years ago or more, I think we are doing extremely well. Let's keep this debate constructive, in the manner of many of the posts. [] Brian []
fai17 Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I met you at StarPerformace RR and i thought you're cool.[H]as it's aways good to meet a new member from other place. So why all this gash about me and other folks mention??? Did we do anything wrong? Did we tread all your toes? Did we ever mention west region scoobies? I don't think so..........let just get on with it. I have joined SIDC Scottish Scoobies and nothing else. I personall can't imagine why you have pick me out to pick out but i can only laugh at you for doing it. Me angry.......never......most folk only know me as a happy guy. I have done a Charity Meal for RB out of my own good deeds.Have you? So why PM you when i have done nothing wrong.
micra_wrc Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I’m surprised you feel like that Coulster.I’m an occasional poster but read the forums everyday and don’tfeel the “divide” that you feel. Thismay be due to me staying in Glasgow and being friends with the people you havesingled out [:|] The guys are very passionate about their cars and yes, perhaps their sense of humour takes a bit of getting used to and the occasionalO/T goat/gay thread is annoying. But Glasgow has the largest concentration of scoobyownerships and when you add that to the vocal/boisterous nature of Gumball,Wilky and Peter there will inevitably be a higher proportion of posts relatingto garages in the west that may make you feel excluded I’m not sure if there are garages in your neck of the woodthat do what Greersport do but if there are, I’m pretty sure that owner’s who’sengines have blown/getting mods installed etc will post up their views in asimilar fashion. From what I gather from reading the Events section, there are someactive members in the Fife area and regular meets are beginning to take place. If you feel more of an observer on the forum and want to getmore involved (speaking from experience as I did the clothing thing last yearand helped organise some runs with Squirrel), perhaps you should start somethreads or suggest different events. No-onewill shoot you down for it and if it interests other forum users, you’ll get agood response. Just my tuppence worthimy
micra_wrc Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 just re-read this thread and although it seems like folk disagree with you/jumping down your throat, i'm glad you posted this as it flags up any issues others may have with the forum. it would be interesting to hear the views of other members. i'm biased cos i stay in glasgow, friends with the folk you have ID'd and work PT for one of the guys in question [] imy
imprezapete Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Im not aiming this post at anyone directly as we all have a part to play in these forums and the club. Im just expressing my feelings. Anyway I've sort of dropped out of the this club a far bit of late as I have found less and less reason to visit the forums. I think some people miss direct there views onto the likes of Gumball, Wilky or Fai17 cause they are very active in the club. I cant see much wrong in their content, I would even say some it is to be commended. Fair enough some of it can go off topic something rotten but I think any thread has that chance. Anyway I have to say the east side of scotland is dead or as some would say very quiet for activities or action for the lack of a better word. I have become bored of the monthly meetings and stopped going to them as well. Maybe its this time of the year thats the issue, who knows. It just feels like east and west are to different worlds when it comes to what people do with their imprezas. Sort of makes me wish I lived in west so I got more action out of my impreza cause all I do with it is drive to work and back each day. Im now finding myself more and more considering selling it, only thing thats keeping me from selling it is the hassel of selling it. Sad but true. Dont get me wrong I loved the club a year ago and I couldnt get enough of it. I will be honest and say I havent renewed my membership yet as im trying to think of a reason to do so. Fair enough there will be people who say I dont deserve a opinon on this subject, but I thought I would at least give my view on how I feel and maybe how some others feel about the club atm.
wrxmania Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Pete - I am sure you are not the only one. Any ideas on how to entice people to renew or to maintain interest, other than moving house? lol [] Brian []
ANDYJDMSTI Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Pete, you are always more than welcome to stretch your legs and the cars across here in the West whenever you want. []
st3ph3n Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I think the time of year has a lot to do with it as Pete said. Post-christmas blues seem to have extended well into April given the truly pish weather we've been having. Hopefully the RB Relay, the trackday and AWD open day this month, and an appearance from mr sun, will once again invigorate the community into life for what will hopefully be a truly excellent season of events, runs and meets. That's the whole community too. Not just us from the west. Hell we have to come to Knockhill and Crail to get our fix of track/strip driving and we don't complain.
fai17 Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Pete I'm sad that you have lost interest in the club as you showed up on my Charity Meal Night.I'm sure you would be made to feel very welcome if you come to any glasgow meet. The East Coast may have went very quiet atm but i'm sure once summer kicks in ,the events will get better. I've personally haven't been to the last 2 meets because of work but yous shouldn't give up on your region as it needs your support. Scottish Scoobies all the way.[]
Gumball Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 zzzzzzz zzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzz zzzzzz zzzzzzzz oops, i fell asleep there Scott, Excellent thread/post. You started off with "Is it just me.........." in the first two paragraphs. Looking at the thread up until just now? pretty much. Unless of course there are many more that feel the same way but havent mentioned it? Anyway.....i wasnt homophobic till i saw this thread. Your post seems to be IMHO driven by a prolonged inability to acheive and for this i feel sad[] I can see through the smoke and mirrors what you are saying about the forum turning into the gumball and wilky show at times. How could the threads ever take shape around thoughts or ideas of people who post very seldomly???? The West/East spilt?? I didnt know there was one. Maybe in your mind there is but im sure if you asked the majority they would think not. Does this really mean that you have a slightly bigoted or class based mindset? Glasgow has a very largely populated region and to this end im sure as we are all fairly active in the club.............just now we all seem to be posting or taking an interest. Anyway, i know people from all over the country, not just Glasgow. The reason we seem like a "back patting goat blowing clique" is cos we are so into SIDC and meet up almost all the time, or discuss what we can do next to the scoobs mods wise. If that doesnt happen where you come from then i cannot do much about that. I tend to think though that it just doesnt happen around YOU rather than your region. A few people have commented in the past about my boisterous behaviour and when they met me they said "do you know something......your actually a decent guy" The perception of you and your comments in this case havent changed which is a shame. Im sure when i think (for a second or two) about your post, you would like to close down nightclubs and pubs throughout Scotland as well cos theres too many people with social skills all getting on with each other, as you shout "i dont like it, they all have friends"[:'(] All i can suggest is going to evening classes to brush up on this or come through to Glasgow and we can all be friends here. Im confused though whether your saying you have issues or your region does??[:^)] You also mentioned that if we had a problem with your burst we could PM Phil Stevens or PM you and you would give me your opinion. I dont entirely see what he would have to do with it and dont particularly want your opinion on anything. If i wanted to get some new shoes for my horse, find out the best time to milk my GOAT, what handbag to take on a nightout, what pub to visit in Brighton or make my car slower then YES i would give you a call. Is there anything i have missed?? Oh aye, the dig about hypertech and greers and how were giving it the full "BIG THANKS GUYS" threads. Maybe this will be of interest to you Mr sh@t smells of roses http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/573148/ShowPost.aspx Anyway, i need to go back to work. Thanks for the irn-bru WKD fuelled burst. Im loving your WKD side. Keep in touch with yourself Gumball
scott_coull Posted April 10, 2006 Author Posted April 10, 2006 About the response I expected from you Gumball "How could the threads ever take shape around thoughts or ideas of people who post very seldomly????" Exactly, what are the reasons people never reply or give there ideas....this is the point im trying to make. Are people not posting for a specific reason? I think so.... "I dont entirely see what he would have to do with it and dont particularly want your opinion on anything." If you felt I had offended you then, if you complain to the Chairman then im sure he would point out to me that I have done something wrong and be interested in the problems cause. Another reason behind my initial post, how can users feel comfortable to post on things when the attitude towards other members is like that? Or maybe just towards me? This is not a thread to start a slanging match of individuals, more trying to make an awareness of how I feel and see if any others feel the same. Maybe it is just me but having spoke to a few other guys I am of the opinion that Im not the only one to feel this way but maybe I'm the only one willing to post up my thoughts. Scott
G.T. Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 east west divide didnt know there was one oh well sure makes a change from glasgow ayrshire i suppose if you dont like the threads dont read them its that simple anyone else feel the same as coulster good time to get it all out in the air just now
Gumball Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Im glad i didnt dissapoint you with my response to the character assasination at the start of this thread. Personally, i dont rip anyone that i dont know on the forum. This expells your 1st point.Reference Phil, you were trying to ensure that your barrage of abuse was all above board and backed by him you are implying? how can people feel comfortable to post things with attitudes like that? Refer back to point 1 which states- no one gets the michael taken that isnt either doing it first or is a friend. There for, no one should feel scared to post anything. I dont post on wrx turbo threads cos i dont have a wrx. Same applies to goat threads....dont post unless you want to. This is a voluntary thing surely? Feel free anytime you want to organise something for SS. I look forward to it.The attitude towards you was never in place until the outburst and character assasination today. Im sure you are actually a decent character when not being directly abusive. To be honest, im glad you posted cos i do know all kidding aside that there are many who do not appreciate the perceieved clique or the drivel that gets posted. Surely if we never posted and were merely here to sell parts, help out or organise things then we would in fact be getting manipulated or used??? Thats my point. take some and give some wether it be assistance, thoughts, humour or deadly serious. (this isnt to be misconstrued to cater for personal attacks) As for your thoughts and doing the full Tommy Sheridan experience and the voice of the people. I admire your approach and point out that your confident stand isnt that distant to the same people in your opinion are instigators of coastal divides.. Regards The North Korean dictatorship
