col666 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Now I have my car back I was thinking about getting it re-mapped for uk fuel. My queries are- Can standard ECU be remapped? If not would I need to purchase an Apexi pfc or is it Ecutek for my car ( 1999 V5 STI Type r ). Would it be daft to have it remapped for normal unleaded? I asume i would loose a lot of power doing this. If remapped for optimax is it ok to run on BP ultimate? trying to find a Shell garage all the time is a pain. How much is it to get a remap done? er...sure theres something else but cant remember now! Col.
dipsy Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Col666. I had a look on ecutek and the 99v5 sti is listed there .You would need to send Andy Forrest an email and ask him what it would be like on 95ron fuel.If you got remaped on optimax and the car needed fill up and there was no shell garages about .Have a case off millers octane booster in the boot to use with bp ulitmate or esso supreme thats what i think best to ask Andy first about fueling wise.Andy goes up to Awd and remaps there customers cars .
scientific steve Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Col, best bet is to drop Andy an e-mail, he has answered all the questions i have asked no probs at all I know that you cant map the 98 hence the Apexi, and I think I"m right in saying that it's easier to map the newer ones but not up to speed on those as i have blinkers fitted only to see my MY98 [] cant see the point on mapping to normal fuel, but thats just my opinion One question I put to Andy was when's the best time after a rebuild to get it mapped and the answer was straight after it's run in best of luck with those miles matey [] steve
paul_honthy Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I emailed AndyF with a question on re-mapping my97 STI and was told it would need the Apexi FC etc.Andy was excellent in explainning the in's and out's and costs etc.Ask him mate and you'll be sorted.
