bigdavie Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 classic owners than bugeye / blobeye/newage owners ??? is it a class thing that i dont know about lmfao ??? also what was the most powerfull scoob ever ?? cheers
dipsy Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I wave to classic owner's was a classic owner myself have a newage scoob now and no wave or nothing when you put your hand up to classic or newage or blobeye owners
wrxmania Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 More newage cars are driven by non-enthusiasts, quite a few as company cars, seen them towing caravans, full of kids etc. I am much more likely to get a wave from a classic turbo or a newage STI than say a bugeye/blobeye WRX. Anyone else find this? []
STi_Bandit Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Whenever i see a scoob i always wave, however round where i stay more and more scoobs are driven by neds and i tend not to wave at them . Martin
4Hero Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I wave to classics, but normally get an odd look back most of the time.. Different when I used to own a classic though, used to get waves all the time []
bigdavie Posted April 9, 2006 Author Posted April 9, 2006 only reason i say is cos i went a wee run the day seein as it was so nice ended up down at girvan and waved to about 20 odd scoobs and got 3 waves back !!! one from a guy wi the exact same year colour model as me lol !! just found it strange as up here every single one i wave at i always get a wave or a toot or a flash of the lights !! but not today wi all the newer motors !
G.T. Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 i wave to every scoob i see get the few odd looks though but what the hell
lescazscoob Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 i have noticed the same in glenrothes area the classic scoobs all wave whereas the newage and bugeye never really do unless i have spoken to them at petrol station/carparks. i dont care i wave whenever i see a scoob.
spooks Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Try and wave to all scoobs and I gotta say I think the scooby wave is on the decline [] I always find as a newage owner I tend to not be waved at though, but trust me I do wave at classics. Spooks
RA Dunk Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Quote however round where i stay more and morescoobs are driven by neds and i tend not to wave at them . same where i stay lots of scoobs here a few driven by d!ckh3ads (mostly younger guys) , one guy in a WRX came tearing up my ar$e the other day trying to get my to go for it , 20 mins later i saw him in a texaco garage filling up with plain unleaded was gonna tell him about optimax but decided against it...one less chav to worry about in the future
gus the bus Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I wave to everybody! Although I have to say I get more waves from newage TBH[] .....and like GT sometimes get funny looks but heh there loss no mine[]
frank c Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I still wave to every scoob i see but it is on the decline ...Don't get many people waving back.....[]
p1ggm Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 i am normally looking at the road rather than the driver[] and most of the time i am looking at scoobs thinking thats nice, then realise the driver is waving and by the time my hand is off the wheels its away past, since driving the astra i have seen loads, was up in aberdeen last week and seen quite a few, but no point in waving in the astra[] i also find mini owners are the same, i reallt need to row a spare arm and hand as i own a mini too (classic mini, not the gay one)
Gumball Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 i went from glasgow to beith and passed 4 scoobs yesterday of varying age. NOW WAVES I then went from beith to glasgow and passed 6 of varying age. NO WAVES Maybe they didnt realise the blue thing coming towards them reading SCOOB was a subaru
dipsy Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Got a few waves and a flash of the lights to day makes a change from newage driver's
RA Dunk Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 got a wave from a classic today as well going into ellon, first time in 10 months of owenership i been waved at from a srtanger!![]
oobster Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I'm always waving @ fellow scooby owners, mostly find that it's the classics who don't wave back. Spotted a nice bugeye STI @ braehead yesterday, parked-up. It was that shade that looks black but when the sun hits it, it's like a dark metallic blue. Was an 02-plate. Anyone on here?
iain_ogston Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I wave at all scoobs!! Yesterday I went on a 900Km drive around Scotland to put miles on my new engine. Saw about 10 scoobs, 5 waved 5 didn't. Also saw two other SIDC cars at Shell stations. Particular thanks to the blue newage on the A9 around 3:30pm who flashed his morettes and waved at my dog old red classic!! This is unusual since most new age drivers in my area are not enthusiasts (with obvious exceptions). Most of the enthusiasts in my area I see regularily have modified classics.
derek_pettigrew Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I Always wave been driving a bugeye scooby for about six weeks now and my wife is dead against the waving to strangers thing. She reasons I never waved to Volvo drivers when i had an S40. Ive tried explaining the difference but she just doesent get it. Anyway I intend to continue waving to all Scoobs inspite of or perhaps because of my wifes scorn.
wrxmania Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Got blanked by a green classic in Falkirk today - baseball cap on and stared at me like I was an alien...but did get a wave from a Blue New Age (04 plate IIRC) with flaps just outside Alexanders Buses in Camelon [] Brian []
micra_wrc Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 "Got blanked by a green classic in Falkirk today - baseball cap on and stared at me like I was an alien" brian, a mental image of sharon came into my head there [] i'll need to be more observant to passing traffic now, i got a stern "a small wave, nod or flash of lights will do.... no need to take both hands off wheel and hail them back frantically" wagging-of-finger-type-lecture from the squirrel yesterday when i spotted a bug eye behind me on the M8 and was busy trying to ID bits of the car instead of looking at the road ahead [:$] imy
andrew_duff Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I get waved at all the time by fellow classic owners , as for the newage guys [] very rairly lol. Andy
Croc Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Loads of 'em around Aberdeen - a mix of wavers adn non wavers - I wave to most - but I am sorry to confess that I realised the other day that I'm a bit of a snob, and don't wave to non-turbo's - but then again, I've every reason to think that they won;t wave to me, cause I've never had one wave to me first! Does it make me a bad person to prefer fellow turbos - esp Blue new ages? anyway - I have noticed that certain cars wave more than others, and invariably men wave more than women. In fact, I don't think I have EVER been waved back from a woman. 1 fellow STIs - any age - wave most 2. then WRX Ssaloons - any age 3. then WRX Estate - although the older ones are probably more likely than the younger 4. non turbo - never waive 5. women driving any of the above never wave
kloon Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Must admit since i've owned mine i've tried flashing the lights/waving (well more a lifting of a couple of fingers off the steering wheel lol) at numerous Scoobs in Aberdeen and got no response whatsoever, i'll keep on trying though ! Closest i got was being let out of Wellington Place onto College Street a couple of Saturday's back by a superb looking white classic, think it was a wrx sti, blue mudflaps (or might have been red, christ my memory is getting worse) and tints.
