STi_Bandit Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 these were the ones i was looking at stephen http://www.flat4online.co.uk/catalog/produ...05-strut-braces Martin
john_robertson Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 As Stephen said you pay your money you get what you have paid for, I'm not knocking the items you've listed but generally you'll find these will be made out of a lighter spec material than the originals. On the plus side you get the lower brace which I believe makes the most improvement. John
st3ph3n Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 http://www.cuscoshop.co.uk/acatalog/gd8.html - I bought my rear brace off that guy, via ebay. Top stuff. I've got a Cusco one on the front that hypertech got me. Posted in the other thread by accident.
jobg Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Hi, The Whiteline demo road car runs on Control springs, front & rear adjustable heavy duty anti roll bars, anti liftkit, front spherical bearing adjustable droplinks, rear alloy droplinks and front strutbrace. Oh, and Michelin Pilot Sport 2 rubber. I find that it makes a great daily driver, comfortable (i'm an old git) loads of grip in wet, dry and anything in between as well as having a good balance for the odd trackday. Of course you can go a lot further, but you start changing the compromise that suspension is. Normally comfort is sacrificed as well as grip in the wet etc. in order to squeeze the last few tenths for the track days. What would you rather have: a car that is right for 99% of it's use and slightly lacking for 1%. Or a car that is right for 1% of the time and compromised for the other 99%? Suspension is a compromise which feels different for different people. Ask your local Whiteline dealer if you can drive the Whiteline demo car to give you some ideas. I'm sure something can be arranged. Cheers Job
steven_williams Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Have got Tein Flex on my bugeye no prob's "so far" with speed bumps. Near me they have nice little square ones on the middle of the carriageway, clears them fine. also got whiteline front and powerflex rear drop links. Going to AWD on 22 April so will probably get a ALK or rear antiroll bar. Will have to see.
STi_Bandit Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 Yeah ill be at AWD on the 22nd will have to have a good walk round these cars [] Martin
Grovit Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Good post this.[] On my classic, I'm running Eagle F1's, standard springs and shocks, prodrive geometry and since the other week - whiteline front and rear anti roll bar links. Cumulatively, all these mods have had an impact on the handling of the car, but the biggest change was brought about by the prodrive geometry set up as this pretty much eradicated the understeer I was experiencing - also as the geometry is not too agressive, it hasn't wrecked the tyres inner edges either. As mentioned above, it's a balance and a compromise between track, road, comfort and ultimate handling ability. For me though - geometry might be the most boring mod, but it's definitely one of the most effective.
Rice Rocket Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Where did you see the tein coilo0verrs for £555, sounds good! RR
STi_Bandit Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 Thats where i saw the Tein Coilovers no bad price i thought which is why i was considering in, pretty much the same job at a garage to change a spring or change a shock so should be the same labour charge. Martin http://www.performancesubaru.co.uk/product...d=223&cat=7
Rice Rocket Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Cool, nice prices. Hmmmm. i love it wwhen a plans comes togeher!!! R R
st3ph3n Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 If you were getting Tein coilovers you'd want the EDFC ones though surely! A wee gadget in the car to adjust the suspension -- YES PLEASE.
pm9575 Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Has anyone mentioned Camskill for price and availability. They have deals on Tein and much more.[:D] www.camskill.co.uk
STi_Bandit Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 There's another link for the old bookmarks looks like an intresting site mate not had time to look at it in great detail at work on me lunch hour [] Iam based in the Edinburgh area can anyone suggest where i would get the Prodrive settings put on the car, also what are the prodrive settings, more camber, toe in - out. compared to the recommended settings in the handbook. Cheers Martin
st3ph3n Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Not sure what the settings are, even though I have them on my car, but I do know there's a place in Sighthill that does them. Forget the name now though. You'll want alignment done AFTER you get any mods done, as a lot of the mods can upset the alignment obviously.
STi_Bandit Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 Most Definatly stephen, would get the geometry done after i get the springs and strut braces ( still deciding on the struct braces Like the cusco Front and reat and lower struct brace, or the whiteline equivalant :-) Martin
oobster Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Quote I do know there's a place in Sighthill that does them. Forget the name now though. CLCM - 0131 453 2698. Never used them myself. There's also a place in Whitburn - Xtreme Motorsport. 01501 741548.
STi_Bandit Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 i rember a while back a place called progrip that hypertech used, i may be completly wrong on that but i want to use a subaru spealist
des_curran Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Hypertech do use Pro-grip m8, there in bonnybridge 01324 810111.
oobster Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Fair enough Martin, never seen a bad word said against ProGrip, but they guy who owns Xtreme in Whitburn owns a highly-tuned Evo so I guess he knows his stuff. You'll probably see it if your going up to AWD open day - it's the white one with red bumpers.
STi_Bandit Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 Yeah, iam off to the AWD openday should be good might talk to the guys whilst iam there about the whiteline products, I also think awd have there own preffered geometry place. Progrip is closer so iiam guessing both do alot of subarus, case of walking in and saying prodrive geometry settings please. Do you have the geometry done on yours oobster ?? Martin
oobster Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Quote Do you have the geometry done on yours oobster ?? Martin I didnt when i first got the prodrive springs fitted but the car was in S&S for a service a few months later and i asked them to alter the settings while it was in there. Fair bit of difference noticed, even although i dont push the car much!
STi_Bandit Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 You see it was my understanding correct me if iam wrong anyone, that when you get your prodrive springs from subaru they come with a wee card inside them telling you what the geometry setting should be with the lowered springs on, therefore should subaru be adjusting the geometry as part of the labour when they put the new prodrive springs on Martin

You'll probably see it if your going up to AWD open day - it's the white one with red bumpers. I dont think it is the one you are thinking about, the car from Swifts aka Xtreme is white with a black/carbon boot and bonnet IIRC, the one you are thinking about sits in B'gate a lot and has an Extreme sticker on it, if memory serves me right that has had work done by Star Performance. Xtreme's car is much quicker, last time I seen it it was running circa 450BHP with anti-lag, remote wastegate etc it also runs Autronic management and was mapped by Mark Shead of MA developments. Last time I was talking to the lads in Xtreme they were planning more for this year, looking at circa 600BHP+ but they were worried about the EVO's AYC and such like giving them grief so were planning on ripping it out. John.
alistair_learmonth Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 You will have to book Progrip and hes getting a new toy to play with all camera if a remember right, he was fair excited about it, a top bloke knows his stuff and very reasonable and nice to boot, was £45 maybe more with his new toy. Went and forgot the guys name too, my memory. As said before one of the cheapest mods and Prodrive settings stopped my understear on my bugeye and improved it no end. Only downside tyre wear.

John. Ah! Fair do's John - perhaps i just passed Xtreme one day and the white-with-red-bumpers EVO happened to be parked outside at the time. I do see it quite a lot down in Bathgate so that would make sense! I knew he had a fast Evo, i just assumed that it was his.
