matthew_crawford Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Hello there, new to this forum this is my first post, looking to buy a dump valve for my 2003 sti, wondering if any one can give me some views or experiences to help me decide what to buy. Been thinking about HKS ssqv heard there quite good?
vicki Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Hello and Welcome to SIDC. Don't know much about dump valves [*-)]
SergeantScooby Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 welcome matty people have different views on dump valves, the majority that fit them seem to like them for a few weeks then get sick of the psssssssssttt, you can off course get quiet ones, as for the the technical aspect of them i cant comment, but am sure someone will be able to recommend a few, scoobysport and scoobyworld have a few different versions
st3ph3n Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 I've got an SSQV, it's great. There was one for sale in the for sale section. Mine sounds like this - www.st3ph3n.com/engine.mp3
david_taylor Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 I had one fitted to my car, but got it removed after 6 months. They really do start to do your nut in after a while, unless you like driving with your tunes up real loud! As for performance, they really dont do much for it unless you are running a really high boost, its meant to stop lag between gear changes by keeping the turbine spinning....apparently! Really up to you mate, although they do turn heads!!!
ANDYJDMSTI Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Stick with standard, if you want nice noises get an induction kit fitted. [] Have run a couple of different D/V 's in the past and they do nothing for performance.........just a noise!!! I replaced mine back to standard a while ago.
jobg Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 The best one to get is the GoFastBits Deceptor Pro. With that one you get an in car adjuster to vary from VTA to recirculating and anywhere in between. http://www.gofastbits.com/index.php?parent...on=deceptor_pro Better quality than most others as well. Cheers
iain_ogston Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 I was speccing my scoob up for a 450 bhp rebuild and a dump valve wasn't mentioned (this car was going to run 1.8 bar boost). Hence I presume the standard subaru STi part must be adequate.
jobg Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 I think if you ave a standard 19mm ?? recirc hose it might be marginal. If it has the 30mm it should be ok. Cheers
Spaceman Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 I have a Bailey Dump valve for sale in the for sale section that is direct fit to your car mate. I touch goats. Moonman

stephen_cheyne Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I'll keep an eye out for you. I know there's a blue 02 bugeye STi in the Broch running a Blitz Supersound & K&N induction kit. Stephen.
