paul_honthy Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Does anyone know if you can buy a private reg with the starting letter newer than the current reg on my car.surely this makes the car registered as being younger and that cant be legal or is it?[8-)].Any ideas? cheers Scotty
dougster Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 You can't. Prefix needs to be your cars registered year or older.
col666 Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 No mate, its illegal to make your car appear newer than it actually is.
paul_honthy Posted March 23, 2006 Author Posted March 23, 2006 Cheers, that's what i thought but after having a discussion the night the seed of doubt was planted, hence the question. Still means i gotta buy a newer car to get the plates i want[]
andy Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I spotted MY04 WRX for sale the other day. It was an "I WANT! I WANT!" situation, but common sense prevailed. I'm not going to pay 2 grand for a plate.
paddy247 Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 How does that work with these so called ageless plates?
dougster Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I think they were introduced prior to the 'age' recognition plates and issed when required.
Gumball Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 could get a prefix plate S400 OOB S600 OOB S555 WRC all that kind of stuff is available on dvla plates for about 250 quid
Baz81 Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Paddy The law still applies for the new reg plates. You couldn't put a 55 plate on a 52/02 car as it would make it appear younger
