chromedome Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Hi guys, looking for any info on the 2001 wrx (£11,495) thats in s&s services in Ayr.Any background info would be appreciated if anybody on here owned the car or knows who did. Also when we took it for a test drive a warning light in the shape of a gearbox came on,i was told this was the check engine light is this correct? As on my classic it actually says "check engine". Thx in advance for any help you can give me. Brian.
G.Mac Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 yup that is the check engine light S&S are SHAT in my opinion Graeme
chromedome Posted March 21, 2006 Author Posted March 21, 2006 Thanks for that mate, ill keep it in mind!!! Nobody know anything about the car?its the one that had the private reg J** NTF
chris_c201 Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Don't know anything about the specific car mate but that seems pretty pricey as well..... I bought a 2001 WRX about 6 months ago wi 23k miles, mint condition and totally standard and it was only 9k.... i'm sure you could get something cheaper!
chromedome Posted March 21, 2006 Author Posted March 21, 2006 Yeah i think you could be right.Oh well the search goes on.
scoobyseller555 Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 is that the silver one that they have had for a while..with the different colour back door?
M8JOF1 Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Avoid S&S,too dear, ignorant and if you have a trade in you would be better off giving it away.Thats what happens when you have a two second chat with the so called owner.
scoobyseller555 Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Yeah i think you could be right.Oh well the search goes on. pop in and see me m8,instant access to all the cars within the dealer network,so there must be something there for you. Gav
chromedome Posted March 22, 2006 Author Posted March 22, 2006 Thanks for the replies lads, pretty much made up my mind not to buy it.Gav its the blue one mate on the website.Might take you up on your offer,,where are you?
derek_robertson Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Got to disagree with you guys, S&S are one of the best selling dealerships in the country, thier sales records account for that. I personaly scoured the country when looking for the best deal from Subaru & found S&S gave the best deal. Another satisfied customer[] Del
oletam Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Got to disagree with you guys, S&S are one of the best selling dealerships in the country, thier sales records account for that. I personaly scoured the country when looking for the best deal from Subaru & found S&S gave the best deal. Another satisfied customer[] Del I would agree with that although I didn't get as much trade in as I would have liked but I've found if a dealer is giving a high trade in value they're screwing you somewhere else.
vicki Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Another satisfied customer[] And another [Y] Was extremely happy with the service I received and I may add, continue to receive []
oobster Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I also used & continue to use S&S - never had a problem, just hope a small warranty issue I have just now goes smoothly!
dougie549 Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 HI All I have used S+S Services for the past 5 years now and i have bought 2 cars of them now and might possiably buy a third if our finances can afford to. The P1 has always been serviced there and has just been dropped of there again tonight, There prices for services are second to none, i found them to be fair and if an iteam dosnt need changed then it wont be and you dont get charged like others might. Every 1 is going to have a preferd dealers and have good and bad points for them. Trade prices you wont get better than S+S Services i know as i went round a couple lattley due to the fact that we are thinking of changing again If they are that bad at trade in prices how come he offerd me £15000 for my 5-6 year old P1 and Nobles for instance offered me £11500 both parties were bassing it against the same type and model of car and S+S Services were actually cheaper with the car they were selling???????? If they were that bad to deal with how come i managed to get a friend to buy a scoob from the after 5 years of trying to get him into a scoob, he has turned round and said he has never seen or dealt with a dealer that has been so helpfull ( and that aint just Subaru dealers) The only issue that i have ever know about is they dont like to service import cars, and thats up to them. Who did you deal with when in? i usually only deal with John Spicer he knows his stuff and he dosnt need to run to anybody to check prices. Do you also know that S+S are the 2 top Subaru sales team in BRITIAN just now. Just tell John Spicer that Dougie sent you in and you want a better deal Cheers Dougie
scoobyseller555 Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 amazing....but then if i gave £15000 for a 6 year old p1 i would soon be working for the top dealer in Britain 2! Gav
stephen_fergus Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 Just my 2p's worth .. I've now dealt with S+S for 2 years now ,and having dealt with in the past VW, Renault, Volvo, and Reg Vardy garages , I have to say I've nothing but praise for S+S. They've always been very helpful, friendly, and will do their best to solve any problem if you have one. Plus, my uncle, a huge Vauxhall fan , who has dealt with many garages over his 50 odd years of driving all over the UK ( and is a fussy old goat []) was changing his car and I introduced him to John.. He's now bought his 1st Scoob and wishes he'd been to S+S 20 years ago he was that impressed with their service and Subaru. S+S are one of the very 1st Subaru dealers in the country, and they have to be doing something right in this day-and-age of your Arnold Clark/Reg Vardy domination to stay in business. As Dougie said , I know each to their own , but I feel in every trade there will always be someone who isn't happy and that's their choice to go elsewhere. Steve
chromedome Posted March 24, 2006 Author Posted March 24, 2006 Just to get back to the original thread lads,my gripe is not with s&s as im reasonably happy with the deal thats on offer. My problem is with the car,as i said in my first post on taking it for a test drive the check engine light came on so that run was a no go.I was told it was a misfire detected so went back for a second test drive yesterday in the fixed car,its still misfiring and really feels as though it wouldnt pull you out of bed. John has said this will be fixed for me but this seems to be dependant on me signing for the car, plus he is talking about changing certain things back to standard i.e. downpipe, induction kit etc.....things that i was told were why the car was slightly overpriced!!!! Oh what to do??????
vicki Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 to get back to the original thread Oh what to do?????? It doesn't take much for us to go slightly off track ... lol It takes a while to find the right car, sometimes months. Try and negotiate a deal with John with or without the extras. Good luck []
chris_c201 Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 You can't give an honest opinion on test drive if he is then gonna change things like a de-cat downpipe...... If you have doubts about it then i would give it a miss mate..... unless he makes it worth your while....
dan_jess Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 I would walk away m8! When i 1st went to S+S they treated me like a boy racer! Now i do realise they must get ther fair share of tyre kickers in but i owned the car and kept it good! The car was supplied by them to my mate b4 i bought it off him! When he bought the car ther was an ABS light on that they said they wud fix, the car still has this light on after they supposedly sorted it! I only go in for parts, and thats all i wud go in for! The salesmen are ignorant and talk down to u! The only person worth talkin to is the older Spicer, sorry but dont no his name. But he talks sensibly to u! Ian at parts is sound and its the only reason i go ther now. The service they gave my car was shat aswell!
billyboy Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 WALK AWAY IT SOUNDS LIKE A BAG OF JUNK ANYWAY.WHY DONT YOU KEEP YOUR EYES OUT FOR A PRIVATE SALE?IM SURE SOMEBODY WOULD GO AND CHECK IT FOR YOU. BILLY
dougie549 Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 HI Cromedome Yeah John will fix the check engine light nae probs, i dont know how long the car has been in to coment, i dont even know what code it was flashing up! The reason John would want the downpipe ect of the car is that he can then sell it with a subaru warrenty on it so you or anyone else would have peace of mind for the next year of ownership. Yes i do agree with certain coments above that it might take you 1 month or 1 year to find the car thats right for you weahter it be from S+S or else where. I find that if your upfront with people and not 2 FACED behind his BACK then John can deal with issues and get them resolved. I hope you find the car that suits you best where ever it maybe. You can never keep all of the people happy all of the time. And i guess every dealership of every Marque will have its knockers and backers Gav. You sound as if you are in the Subaru network. does that mean you have a SIDC banner for selling cars? And if you are what garage are you working for? Not that i am having a dig but have you seen my P1 and do you know the kit thats on it? Billie If you have a problem with the dealer take it up with him. I spoke to an indapendant person about certain steering rack problems and i have been told that Subaru Japan are dealing with the promblem now, and as you know it isnt a thing that can be turned round in a matter of day's. Did you have your steering rack changed over to eliminate the problem? I dont know that answer and am only asking a question! Cheers Dougie
