Stu1 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 What kinda mpg I can expect from 2.0 wrx if driven "normal" eg no racing, cheers......or the 2.0 non turbo.
G.T. Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 not a lot thirsty buggers scoobs but then again you dont buy them for their fuel consumption
st3ph3n Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I've kept a spreadsheet of my petrol usage since July last year and I'm sitting at about 23mpg in a MY05 WRX. That includes some trackdays, some economy motorway runs, some foot to the floor canonball run motorway runs too and plenty of average driving. So the answer of "not a lot" was correct.
Stu1 Posted March 15, 2006 Author Posted March 15, 2006 So about 23 on average then, and that'll be the turbo's eg wrx...so if you drive it they way it's designed your into the late teens.....christ that's worse than my 2.8 merc auto...ffs

Blimey you must be more lead footed than me as my MY05STi with the exhaust, CAi kit and remap does around 20-22mpg - and alot of that is stuck in traffic. Mmm I'm not so bad after all. Dave
st3ph3n Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Remap is known to improve fuel efficiency Dave. I'm a little bit lead footed. I used to be able to get low 20s out of a 1.8 Ecotec vectra if I stayed off the motorways. Not the weekend there but the one before I managed 400 miles on £80 worth of petrol. ALL MOTORWAY! If I'd stop driving at COUGH then I'd be fine.
fai17 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I get about 150miles to the 1/4 fill me up time tank.[:$]
vicki Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I fill my tank which holds £44 and I get 220 miles [:|] Mine isn't a WRX though its a Classic.
Stu1 Posted March 15, 2006 Author Posted March 15, 2006 Good god!.....I know the merc's a totaly diffirent drive than the scoob's, but even at those figure's I'm deff getting more from the 2.8 merc than you lot, I dont drive like a learner but I dont scream about either. I think I'm gona have to think about this.......just why are they so greedy...
dave_morgan Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I tend to get 200 - 250 miles to the tank with mixed driving. I've had 300, but only on a long trip, being 'sensible'. I think the tank is 50 litres, but I don't tend to run it dry. Actually seems quite 'frugal' compared to the Skyline !!!
G.T. Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 that would be the turbo methinks just buy it and put up with the piss poor fuel consumption you will love it honest

Stu1 Posted March 15, 2006 Author Posted March 15, 2006 All I can say you peep's must have bloody good payn job's and not bother at all what you get mpg wise.

I'm not saying that but I honestly though it would get slightly more the my 2,8 that's all, with it being a 2.0, obviously I'm totaly wrong, but as I said above.....why are they so thirsty.
dave_morgan Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 All I can say you peep's must have bloody good payn job's and not bother at all what you get mpg wise. Personally I don't do a huge number of miles, and I see the car as a "hobby" as well as a mode of transport. A tank a week =£200 a month, which doesn't cripple me - simple as that. If you smoke a pack of fags a day, you're pretty close to that. I don't smoke - so there's my justification!! []. I don't know if you do smoke, but if you do, just give up then you can afford the fuel bill !
gus the bus Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I must be driving mine too sensibly then!!!!?[:$] I've never yet had less than 280 miles to the tank[] and have had a much as 317 to the tank! Gus
BlackWagon Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 A 2.0 Sport will do 30 ish MPG where the JDM 1.8 Sport I have can do 45 ish. I get 450 miles from a full tank (£50) And that is absolute gospel - no driving like a nutter mind or it will suffer but changing up at 3 to 4k will do ok. Take it to 6k and you can watch the gauge go down lol

gus the bus Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 All I can say is, its worth it [] I'd second that![]
dave_morgan Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I'm not saying that but I honestly though it would get slightly more the my 2,8 that's all, with it being a 2.0, obviously I'm totaly wrong, but as I said above.....why are they so thirsty. It's all down to the turbo and engine type really. The turbo puts more air into the engine, so you can consequently put more fuel in. If you drive on the turbo all the time, you use more fuel - simple as that! Taking it to the extreme, a Formula 1 car is lighter and has a smaller than your merc, but you really don't want that fuel bill !!!! []. The responsiveness and acceleration you get with an impreza makes it all worth it though, as VICKI says. Drive one then try NOT to buy one !! If you want to see a selection of different shape and styles, come to the Edinburgh meet tonight at the Fairmile Inn, Edinburgh. There should be quite a selection there to peek at and we're a pretty friendly bunch [] HTH, Dave
st3ph3n Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 The Turbo. When you start force feeding air into an engine they have to gulp down an amount of petrol suitable for that amount of air. If you drove everywhere off boost you'd get good economy. BUT WHERE'S THE FUN IN THAT! They're putting out well over 100bhp per litre. There's hardly any cars on the road that can claim to get anywhere near that sort of power.
Stu1 Posted March 15, 2006 Author Posted March 15, 2006 Thanks....that's explained good, the thirstiest car Iv'e had so far (dont laugh) was a probe the V6 that was (as I thought) a guzzling feker, but again quick off it's mark (well it was to me at the time), i did drive the Outback but it wasnt a turbo. I'm due to take a test in a wrx est at the wk end at a dealer but it's mile's away, but honestly I dont know if I'll bother with one if that's the kinda mileage there getting, I'll really need to think about it. Cause like I say Iv'e got the bike too, and NO car on these roads will keep up a good sporst bike...[]
