billyboy Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Just purchased this months EVO magazine and they are comparing BMW.Vauxhall Vectra VXR,EVO IX AND new model Impreza STi. And guess what??? The steering columns are rattling on the STi 10 too. TUT TUT Subaru.
clutdav Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Yeah - but does it really matter?????? [^o)] Dave
fai17 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 The rattles doesn't actually upset the steering of the car.
ANDYJDMSTI Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Get a louder exhaust or turn your stereo up [][]
G.T. Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz[|-)] open your window and listen to the flat4 burble

oz *sti* Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 aye louder exhaust, let your right foot hit the floor and listen to the great sound of the flat four at work []
G.Mac Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Louder exhaust does not work, I can still hear my knock which PISSES ME OFF, only been waiting 8 MONTHS for Subaru to fix mine, you dont buy a 26 and a half grand car for it to knock and rattle You have had my car for over 4 weeks, replaced the steering column and had it apart countless outher times, GET A HURRY UP AND GET IT FIXED SUBARU rant over Graeme
ANDYJDMSTI Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Quote Billy the 05 jdm sti i have there is no steering wheel rattle Funnily enough neither does MY03 JDM............must be the pump UK cars [][]
G.Mac Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Yea, if I knew then what I know now I would have saved myself some money and got a better car with the JDM option, and just payed the extra in insurance Graeme
dipsy Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 The 05jdm sti i have was cheaper to insure than an sti with ppp
ANDYJDMSTI Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Quote The 05jdm sti i have was cheaper to insure than an sti with ppp PMSL...........Nice one!!! Can see afew more gutted people now []
billyboy Posted March 16, 2006 Author Posted March 16, 2006 As a matter of fact it does matter guys.At 26k im not expecting it to rattle and it seems the dealer (you know who you are) or Subaru dont give a toss. If it was yours would you put up with it?I dont think so.
billyboy Posted March 16, 2006 Author Posted March 16, 2006 I would also like to add that EVO condemed the handing of the STi 10 which i totally agree with.
dougster Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 "condemed" Where exactly in the article does it say this? They felt the car had lost a bit of soul but called it "ballistic" and having "massive grip and a rare composure" It also made the fastest lap time equalling the EVO.
Gumball Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 []i was going to post asking if it does matter. your right for that money IT CERTAINLY DOES!!! Though wait till its a almost 3 years old, done a good few miles and wait till u hear all the sh@t rattling. strereo pax seat glovebox pax seatbelt peesh nothing a 2.5short block wont fix though[]
wrxmania Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Sure tootin' right Chris - mine sounds like a maracca band are playing inside it!! Drives me mad - clock, stereo, glovebox (the worst) side of dash between drivers door and dashboard...ARGHHHHH!!!!! I just ignore it - had my dash apart too many times and there is no real cure I hacve found. Nobles spent three hours on it, gelling bits etc - no better when it came out of the bodyshop [] Still love it though. Brian [}
chris_c201 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Brian... My glovebox used to rattle really bad so i removed the whole section and adjusted the catch to its furthest point.... now when i close it i have to force it to catch and it defo doesn't move... rattle gone!
st3ph3n Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Glovebox rattle - check. Drivers Seat - squeeks a bit, but not for a while. Now I've said that it will of course start again. Used to get a rattle at the rear that stopped after about 3 months. BUT! Now I've picked up a new one at the rear. Appears to be more aimed to the drivers side and it's a rattle/squeak when I go over certain bumps at certain speed! Only seems to have started since RAC Windscreens did my front screen replacement, but why would a rattle from the rear occur after that? I'm thinking it's the rear seats because the car handles spot on so it can't be suspension and I've checked all the bolts on the rear wing too. So I'm going to get a rear cusco strut brace because to fit that needs the rear seats out. Might as well upgrade whilst I'm fixing. That's Peter's philosophy isn't it?
Gumball Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 stephen, can you give me the link again for the bar we were talking about with the harness? cheers. PM it to me
