SergeantScooby Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Anyone over last few days i have been noticing a slight judder coming through clutch pedel when releasing the clutch after changing gear, i dont think its there all the time. Could this be the start of the clutch on its way out, i would rather catch it before it goes completely and leaves me stranded somewhere clutchless. any ideas / suggestions ? ss
RS Grant Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 I had this on my MY99 UK Turbo for ages....and it lived a hard hard life. [] Cheers, Grant
dave_morgan Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Quite common apparently, although I've never had it. I've heard a good cure is to do a few hard, high rev launches, and that 'cleans' it up. Can't advise from personal experience, but I've heard this from more than one person. HTH Dave
vicki Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Hi I had a clutch judder when I first got my car. It happened mainly when I was pulling away in first gear and changing to second. Left it a while to see if it stopped when I got more used to the car and the bite. Took it back to the dealer and they felt it too. They advised me to monitor it for a bit then get back to them if I still wasn't happy. It wasn't getting any better and started to really annoy me. The dealer then replaced the clutch for me no problem. No judder now []
WRC No 1 Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Classics are common for judder and our wagon had it bad. It's normally caused by flat spots on the flywheel but have heard it can be other things. Anyway we put the wagon to Greer sport to get the lightened flywheel in and guess what??? No judder anymore. LOL Lighten your flywheel!!![] Claire aka scoobymadburd
Iaing Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 I get it from time to time. Unfortunately it is a subaru trate. Some get it some dont. It'll go away once the car warms up. I've heard replacing the flywheel and / or clutch can cure it. A bit extreme if you ask me (unless you can get it under warrenty). Just live with it. Iain
johns Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 It's not just limited to the classics. Both my classic Imprezas suffered, as does my current STi.. Worse when cold, and normally just really limited to 1st gear. You can: a) Get used to it - you can soon learn to drive around it Do a few full bore standing starts with a bit of clutch slip. Cleans up the surfaces a bit, but it's a short term fix and it will return in a few months. c) Get a new clutch and flywheel fitted. This is normally only done under warranty, as there's no real need to do it when the clutch still works fine. I've lived with my current clutch judder for two years, and it will get sorted when I eventually change the clutch (currently 52k miles!) John
**amanda** Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 hi i have 02wrx and i have a clutch judder as said in previous posts mine is only in 1st gear first thing in the morning. its bad on the really cold mornings but i just let car heat up its fine after that. my car is still under warranty but by the time i drove it to the dealers the car is well warmed up so whats the point and it is only sometimes.
kloon Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Yip mine is the same, judder first thing in morning but after a few gear changes it's gone.
