P1 NUT Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Was thinking of getting this fitted to my P1, but is it worth it and how much will it cost? Oh and where is the best place to get it fitted, thanks.
FastScooby Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 i have the alk fitted to my wrx... made a big difference especially with the drop links fitted. try hyper-tech, bonnybridge.. they are doing free fitting at the moment
FastScooby Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 P1 NUT, should be about £100 give or take a few quid
st3ph3n Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Hypertech were doing free fitting on Whiteline gear. Not sure if you need your geometery setup after getting that done though. Probably do I imagine. So it'll be an extra £40 odd to get that setup. Try and do any handling mods at the same time so you don't have to keep getting geometery re setup.
des_curran Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 The A/L/K is a very worthwhile mod to do, but you do need the geometery set up afterwards and Hypertech is still offering free fitting on Whiteline products[]
P1 NUT Posted March 8, 2006 Author Posted March 8, 2006 Been in contact with them and its £142 for Alk and £55 for geometry set up. Didn't think it would be as much as that but never mind. Got my eye on a set from a web site in Australia which including postage will work out cheaper than getting them here. Just need someone to fit them.
WUZ Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 P1 NUT, where abouts do you stay? I can fit the Whiteline ALK to a P1 for £30. I am based in Aberdeen. Russell
ozzy Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 You should be able to get the ALK for around £110-£115 inc VAT/delivery. You'll pay an hour or so install at a garage, so add £25-£50 on top, unless you can get access to some car ramps and have a bash yourself. £140 is expensive, but they're giving you fitment - it's not entirely FREE, nothing is so you're just paying for it as they can't compete with mail order companies.
Gumball Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 was quoted the same price last night as he fitted another couple of pleasent surprises. 140quid fitted. progrip geometry is now 55quid
P1 NUT Posted March 9, 2006 Author Posted March 9, 2006 Sourced a set from Australia for approx £90 including postage. Do you think Hypertech will still fit them for me even if I didn't buy them from there ? Anyone got a contact no: for truegrip to get geometry done.
ozzy Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Don't see why not, they'll just make money out of the fitting costs. Unless the bolts are stuck fast it shouldn't be a big job to change them - 1hr max should do it. You don't need the geo reset after fitting it IIRC, but getting a decent geo setup at the same time would help.
P1 NUT Posted March 10, 2006 Author Posted March 10, 2006 Just need to sort out payment etc with the OZ. How much does Dunc charge for labour ?
des_curran Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Just need to sort out payment etc with the OZ. How much does Dunc charge for labour ? I'm not sure what Duncans labour rate is, but he was telling me had made a mistake with the price he quoted you for the kit, the correct price is around £100 to supply and fit to a classic impreza, then its just the alignment that needs done.
swanie Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Hi All That is not the right price for a classic anti lift kit @ £100 all in its £120.44 inc vat As for getting from OZ it would be in your best interest to get from U.K companys (cheap scates) After reading this thread there will be no more free fitting and discounted whiteline parts from said company.
ozzy Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 It's a competitive market and there's loads of mail order places that'll do discounts on Whiteline stuff in the UK. It's the customers choice at the end of the day and they have to decide whether to save £20-£40 or support one of the local suppliers. Not sure what you mean by "it would be in your best interest"
Gumball Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 This morning i sold a company an HP server. IBM said they would install and confirgure it FOC if they bought it from them.. SO instead of thinking outside the box for ways (similar to that in which they had done) i called all the commercial accounts and said it wasnt fair and i wasnt playing anymore. OR I said to myself, will i keep sanctuary within the marketplace and do what I CAN to ensure the business comes my way? I then realised that the competition wasnt trashing the market, but was infact using the various USP's *unique selling points" available to them to win the business. All was then fair in love and war. the marketplace was fluent, the consumers were happy with the pricing/quality ratio and we all had scrambled eggs for breakfast again.[]
