scoobykev Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I've got 4 pots on my uk98, don't think they're original as the space saver won't fit over them. That year seems to be when brakes changed over though, but my problem is they're seizing and i've been pricing recon calipers. The prices seem to vary quite a bit for exchange units. My question being, are all 4 pots the same, as the local motor factor has my year down as 2 pots but the 99 has 4's, so they've quoted for that year. The price is £56 +vat each exchange, which seems awful cheap, considering the price some are making for second hand, but as long as it says subaru down the side they'll be ok?? Any ideas Kev
Derek FKS 85 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Phone Godspeed, they do original reconditioned ones fairly cheap. Good lad Ian Godney too.
Highlander68000 Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Yes, they are the same. I think the piston seal kits are about £30 new (that's what I was quoted once), so that doesn't seem a bad price.
Carl Davey Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Yup decent price Kev. I got my reconed 4-pots from Brakes International for not a lot more than that but i didn't exchange my originals. They're becoming a bit more widely available now as they've been OEM since 1999.

They'll probably be original.as any space saver won't fit over them. If you get a puncture on the front you're meant to put the saver on the back and take that good one and put it on the front. PITA though.
scoobykev Posted March 16, 2006 Author Posted March 16, 2006 Cheers for that. Next question, are tarox discs any good? or any other recommendations?
z1000 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Bought some drilled and grooved jobs on ebay for £90 brand new , not tarox, ebc etc but work fine teamed up with mintex 1144's Seller was AZmotors i think.
Grovit Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I upgraded to 4 pots on my MY97 - although they have their limitations, they are a massive improvement on standard 2 pots. Be careful what alloys you have though as some of the prodrive alloys won't clear them.
WRC No 1 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I upgraded to 4 pots on my MY97 wagon and put the std bugeye wheels on the car and have no prob with the space. wullie
