4Hero Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 What a great day, perfect weather for it too (not). Everyone had a good time though, which is what it's all about. It was good to put even more faces to names too. Thanks to Graham (FastScooby) and Cal for taking a couple of us around the track, maybe I'll get a wee run next time [] Also, thanks to Graham's wife for the coffee! Update: There's now a wee video compilation of photos and videos, don't laugh, it's my first time using the software [] Here are a few piccies. Neil.
colin_ross Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Good pics. So what did everyone think of the new and improved track then???
col666 Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Good to put some faces to names today, STI Bandit, 4 Hero, FastScooby and of course Ruby[] Surprised you managed to wave at me while you were going round, thought you'd be holding on for dear life[]!!! Have some good pics but not at home so will post some up tomorrow. Col.

sharon_mccall Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Fantastic day. Big thanks to FastScooby for plenty of pax laps []. Also thanks to Cal for the last minute laps (lovin that dump valve Cal []) Pity the weather was crap but didn't spoil my enjoyment at all.
vicki Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Great photos! I will need to get some bottle and go sometime [:|]
fai17 Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Sorry i couldn't make it. It look like all enjoyed themselves but KH is alot better in warmer weather. How did yous like the improved track????
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I had a real swell time out there .........good to meet some new faces but never really got a good enough chat with any really due to running around like a daftie. The new surface is SOOOOO grippy to the point where it's dangerous if there is a section of muddy, greasy tarmac just after a nice grippy bit ( e.g top of Duffus). The "bollards" at the chicane annoy me but they are there for a reason. They had cones out for HHatch which showed you the right lines ( supposedly !) but they got on my thrupennies. I wasn't caning my car as i had relatively new Toyo's on . The TR1's are pretty damn good though and inspire confidence. I'm running 250 bhp @ present which sounds hee-haw but I kept up with ( & passed) some of the Elises guys which was previously unachievable with the measlely 215bhp as standard. The new brake upgrade was so radically different from standard too. Godspeeds grooved discs + Ferodo DS2500 + Goodrich hoses + 5.1 meant absolutely no fade and i could almost stand on the brakes at the last minute. So all in all a great day but i never took any in-car footage.... Went out in Andy's ( newbie) WR1 and OMG was it rapid ! It just grips an grips and munches gears for breakfast and comes back for more ! With the DCCD on auto we got the back end oot every time at the hairpin. Makes me want to sell my house and left baw and live in a cave to get my mits on one. Nice photties too Neil - thanks for sharing [<)] Cheers Cal
P1 NUT Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 First trackday of the year for me and the misses and thoroughly enjoyed it appart from those cones. Spoke to the marshall who was doing the signing on who informed me that they had too many people going off on their driving schools, so started to put them out to assist people with the lines. Yesterday was just an experiment to gain feedback from us lot as to what we thought. If they got too much negative feedback then they would not risk the chance of losing attendees and more importantly to them, money and would remove them for future SIDC/TOP MARQUES days. I like the new widened track. Apparently it cost £300,000 to complete, but the inside of the pit straight is subsiding. This will be rectified before the first race meet in March.
FastScooby Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Brilliant day yesterday, bit cold and damp at times. Good to see a few peeps from SIDC. Like Cal said the track was greasy in places with some mud on the track but in general grippy, as per usual the brakes on the scoob were P!sh and need to get the Rear ARB stiffened a bit. Think Sharon and Martin enjoyed the PAX laps that they had and possibly got them converted to taking their cars on track [] I have some in-car video if you want to look... not for dial-up use though (20mb each) Not brilliant quality as it was a cheapy camera but you will get the jist. http://www.myscoobaru.co.uk/video/movie1.wmv http://www.myscoobaru.co.uk/video/movie2.wmv http://www.myscoobaru.co.uk/video/movie3.wmv http://www.myscoobaru.co.uk/video/movie4.wmv http://www.myscoobaru.co.uk/video/movie5.wmv Graham PS anyone got 4 pots they are selling (cheaply)[] Thanks too Neil for the photos
scoobyseller555 Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 its now sunday......and ive just thawed out!! good day though Gav
dieselpower Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Fantastic day!! First real test for the car, and what a car! [6] Started off taking it pretty easy and the car felt a little skittish and understeery. After a couple of runs the pace picked up a lot and using the "point & squirt" technique the car just blew me away. The speed I could take into the 1st corner was amazing, way faster than the Zed or the Civic  Going into the hairpin too quickly generated massive amounts of understeer, ended up on full lock and then the bugger would grip and I was shooting sideway across the track [] Only one moment, on my second lap I entered the chicane off the power and the back stepped out. Exited the corner already pointing in the correct direction, a swift stamp on the go-go pedal and the car pulled straight and we were off again. It was nice to have sun, rain, snow, wind, overcast, damp and dry conditions. The car relishes the wet, the Pirelli P-Zero Neros did a terrific job, sadly Mr S. Ubaru's brake pads weren't so good and I was using a touch more engine braking than I'd like. An easy and fairly cheap thing to sort so hopefully next time the Exiges will be staying behind me [] As for the Corsa and the TT [:@] Hopefully I'll get a chance to speak to you lovely SS people next time Cheers Andy
STi_Bandit Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Really enjoyed myself yesterday, many thanks to graham (fastscooby) for taking me round the track [au] [Y] [Y] was a great experience and i was hooked (and 4hero the A/C was off the whole time []) will defentilty taking my car on the track even if i do drive like miss daisy. Nice to meet a few new SIDC members and put faces to names even if is a bit weird going up to someone and saying hey iam Sti_bandit, and getting a look of have you been sucking on the exhaust pipe fumes. Cheers Martin
4Hero Posted February 26, 2006 Author Posted February 26, 2006 Don't mention the AC Martin [], I am a scooby noob (only been 5.5 years of ownership) and I know feck all about mechanics and stuff [] Know I know though, thanks for pointing it out!! Good videos FastScooby, thats what it looks like going round the track [] Maybe next time eh. I forgot about the other memory stick I had and added a few more photos above. cheers
4Hero Posted February 26, 2006 Author Posted February 26, 2006 I really need to get myself a decent camera []
Grovit Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Had a cracking day out there yesterday - was quite chuffed with how the car handled (black classic) but was in 2 minds about the cones - I understood why they did it, however I generally found them distracting and definitely felt it made it more difficult to move out of the way when faster cars were coming through. Anyway - was all good fun - had a breif chat with one of the classic red WRX owners about brakes, however my apologies for not saying hello to more folk - was probably out enjoying myself too much !!
poah Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Quote I really need to get myself a decent camera [] funny I need a decent car lol
4Hero Posted February 26, 2006 Author Posted February 26, 2006 I need a decent car too [] I was having a tinker with movie maker and threw this compliation together from yesterday.
