Hi people,

I have enjoyed photography since I was at school (which was a long time ago), and only recently got back into it. I am currently saving the pennies for a decent digital SLR, but until then have to put up with my sony cybershot.

Does anyone else enjoy photography? Post your photo's if you do [:)]

Here's a few of my favourites to date, which are also on my deviantart gallery:

I think i have the bug,  my wife is currently doing photography at college, And is in the process of buying the equipment so she can work freelance at the end of it,

Latest purchase is the Canon eos 350 d slr   so if you are looking for a digital slr id recoment that one.

Nice photos mate, good work!

Whats the problem with the Canon then? I have spoken to a few professional photographers and they all highly recommend the eos? I was concidering buying one [:)]

I'm sure the Canon will be fine.

Just do a bit of research because you have so many options to choose from these days.

For my aviation photography I really need a bigger lens to get right in there as the x2 adaptor for my S7000 is just not that great.

4Hero,

Some great pics you got there. I use a Nikon D50 DSLR, only got it a few months ago and havent really used it apart from motorsport pics. Had never used one before but you get the hang of it pretty quick.

Myself and a mate set up a wee website, www.power-images.co.uk , since we go to Knockhill and Crail all the time we thought we'd show our pics to a wider audience and maybe make a couple of quid too[:)]

Thanks Colin, some great photos you got there too, nice work [:)]

Taking photos of cars racing is a nightmare, this shot taken coming into the hairpin at knockhill last year really annoys me:

Another split second and the whole car would have been in the shot.. Any tips?

i've spent a good bit of time down at knockhill and at croft whilst me mates were on bike track days

whilst they were playing on the track i was snapping away and getting the hang of  focus on the point where they will pass and following them from further up the track

others may have better ways of getting them on centre but i find i can now get a 90% average on getting them in

hope this helps

or get a better camera [:)]

Just Cheat! Take a wider picture i.e. bigger, with the car or whatever near enough the centre then just crop it right down on your pc. voila, you are the master of timing![:)]

nasty, lol, great tip [:)]

I was zooming in to get as much detail as I could, I will try this tomorrow at knockhill!

Thanks,

If you have a good camera, when you crop the picture the quality should be just as good.

Heres a ..ahem picture from crail last sunday, these 'people' were in the top on the control tower and i was standing quite a distance away at the end of the drift oval with a 300mm lens. I had the zoom at full range and the people were tiny in the middle of pic but when i cropped it, i was very surprised with the quality!

just a pity i wasnt up there too[:)]

Some nice pics there lads [:)]

My dad was a keen amature photographer - back in the days when there was no digital cameras. He had his own developing studio up the loft, with the 3 baths with the chemicals in & everything! He only developed black & white pics i seem to remember.

The interest hasn't found it's way down to his son though!

I espcially like the snow-covered trees one you showed Col - thats a cracker.

Cropping a hi-res pic is always a great opportunity to get a nice detailed image.

The Red Arrows one was done exacly that way.

I'll post some more with the sun in the best postition, i.e. behind you!!!!!!!! [:)]

Road Warrior...You were at the autocross as well. Should have come up and said hello. I was in the white pug 205 No 502. I have some good shots from the race but taken by my daughter on a olympus e10. don't have access to them now but some very good. the flying mud gives pace to the pictures.

That was at Causey Park, I didnt make it to Kelso or Berwick, terrible I know, not supporting my local events, but I wasnt in the country then.

Did you say you were going down to Causey this year? First event is the 9th of April

Some very good pics there guys.

I used to take millions of pics but dont have enough time now [:)]  Think from now on iam going to have to make time though 99% of the time i have at least one camera in the car with me.

Ive not got the hang of taking good motorsport pics with the digital camera yet either.

Id love a digital slr but cant justify the crazy costs involved, i'll just stick with the digital compact and the good old fashioned slr in the meantime.

I'll take the digital camera to the rugby tomorrow and see if i can get some decent pics
