I need some help here guys.....

I am seriously considering getting rid of the pink princess for a P1.

I am completely torn[:D]

I love my car because its me, It represents me in every way. But......

1. Shes losing money every day

2. Shes getting old

2. Shes done over 100'000 k

a P1 would hold its value, is a limited edition and is super sexy in a different way to mine.

What do i do????????

depends how much you want to spend.

IMHO if you can get a 20k miles P1 for a good price then its a great car as im sure Paul N wil agree, personally i would go for a V8 STi and mod it. Either that or a WR1 if youve got the cash...

all depends what you wanna do with the car..........

Drive it , Julia[:D]

ha bloody ha!

i ment modding wise etc..........

If you wanna mod, you best off with a STi V5 (a p1 with the best bits left on!)

I want to find the most standard one i can find, Julia. Im not interested in modding a P1, maybe an up rated exhaust sytem with de-cat but thats all i would want. IMHO P1 's are best left standard[;)]

I am afraid no Scooby will do that, they all lose money like its gone out of fashion, but an unmolested P1 will IMHO lose alot less than most of you dont mod it. They are quick enough anyway in standard guise.

Speak to Paul or Jenni about one. Jenni hasnt had hers for too long so it would be good to get first impressions from her.

What is your budget by the way??

Ive been told that the P1 engines have a tendency to go bang around 50-60 k due to mapping and the standard oil pump. Does anyone know of, or experienced this?

Rash, my budget would be around 15k. All depends on what i can get for mine[;)]

who is Jenni BTW? I would like to get her opinion on them.

The P1 is just one of the meanest badest hotest cars on the road, If you can afford one and find one BUY IT,    plus Fit bird in a flash motor....you'll be fighting the blokes off with a stick.

You could always spray it pink later one. The only pink P1 in the whole wide world.....unless elton john has one.

P.S If you can afford one any chance of lending me a fiver till friday

Hi,

Where to start had our P1 for 3 years & recently changed for the WR1.

The P1 is the best car we have owned & being totally honest I prefer it to the WR1 [;)]

Ours had 40k on the clock when we bought it & sold with 69k, no engine problems at all, they do have a tendancy to pop engines but think a lot depends on how they are looked after.

Few pointers below, just my opinion [:D]

Always warm up and cool down properly

Fit knock link and quality guages, never let oil temp go above 117 degrees

Avoid cars with induction kits and or decats, unless been remapped

Most P1 engines blow due to faulty MAF sensors, signs are eratic idle and lumpy running at low revs usually doesnt bring on the check engine light, we changed the MAF annually £75 & easy DIY job

Other causes can be, been on motorway at prolonged silly speed, decats or induction kits fitted without remap (makes engine detonate at high revs)

See you have found the P1 WOC, great site for P1 info and a good bunch peeps [:D]

Car at Lichfiekds now sold, know car and owner, it was a real minter

Advice from me would be to buy a standard P1 with full Subaru history and a warranty.

They are a tremendous drivers car but do need to be looked after.

If I can be of further help let me know [:D]

Cheers Paul
