easy to do.

wheel off, pins out the caliper, move it out the way, wire brush the inside of the caliper, fire anti slip paste on the back of the pads, put into caliper, pins back in, wheels on, allow to wear in.

dont buy redstuff mate they are shat, trust me

the rears dont get used much mate, all or just about all the pressure is zapped onto the front ones.

the back ones need changed about every 2nd or 3rd front set as far as i could tell. I got my car in march2005 and i have been through 6 sets of fronts and 1 set of rear pads.

Mintex 1144 are good. start with them and once you get used to the car and start going on track then maybe get the 1155's. they make a squeeking noise when cold but stop like you wouldnt believe

Martin your best bet is Pagid or Ferrodo pads..... although for Brembo pads your prolly looking in the region of £150/160 for em. Recently had to buy pads for mine at £140. Id recommend changing fluid as well to Dot 5.1, you may find that you can increase the temperature of the brake fluid after fitting new uprated pads. Not a fan of Mintex personally but some folks like em, Pagids are prolly the best overall pad I have been told.

They are no bother to fit at all, as Andy said gimmie a call and Im sure I can help out if needed.

21,000 miles, including 3 track days (one a full day) and I'm still on my second set of pads.

How the hell do you manage to go through 6 sets of them?

I'm using the EBC Red Stuffs on standard discs at the moment without any problems.

Ferodo DS2500 are my favourite all round pad. They don't squeal like the mintex do, are ok when cold and great when hot (and don't overheat too much in my experience). Changing the fluid is always a good move too, and if you're doing that you may as well fit braided hoses too!! All depends on budget though obviously! Suddenly a £150 job turns into £300!!

Can lend a hand with the pad change too if you get stuck. It's pretty easy if you've got the tools.

I fancy the hoses and fluid myself next time round.

It's the same with everything Impreza though. I need new brake pads turned into pads + drop links + geometery. Oh and a strut brace was ordered at that time too. Cusco as well, non of your pink ended fake STI stuff.

Looking for new wing turned into "och I'll just get the splitter too. Why the hell not."

The 19K service turned into "well it'd be rude not to get the Tein springs done whilst it's in".

You must have the same disease as me.  It always seems rude not to get these things done 'while your at it(ooer missus)'[:)][:)]

The full decat + performance filter + remap better not go down the same way boab. I don't know if I could afford an it'd be rude not to moment when getting that done.

But I don't like to be rude.

Stop it, you are starting to melt my credit cards............and I've just paid them all off.

(Note to self.....shread the credit cards)

Hi--Remember if changing pads, assuming old ones are well worn, loosen brake fluid reservoir cap, wrap reservoir with old cloth/paper towel as you may have to lever back the pistons to ensure new pads can be correctly positioned which may displace some brake fluid "back up system".

Suggest you also have a search thru' Tech. forums here and in Scoobynet because I seem to remember that Subaru does not advise use of 5.1Dot fluid but cannot remember reason.

Dave.

How? I use my car in venom on a daily basis. the embarresment of people behind you seeing brake lights outside 50m before a bend is gay. dont do it.

Braking at all is for LOSERS!

As a fierce advocate of the benefits of understanding traffic wave theory then you know I don't like to brake very often. Unlike all the random muppets on the motorway who get a sniff of traffic slowing anywhere in their vision and slam on the anchors whether they need to or not.
