RS Grant Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 ...a friend is going through to Glasgow this weekend to meet up with a girl he's been seeing for a while. He's looking to take her out for the day and do something that isnt the normal boring "date" stuff like Cinema, Meal, Few Drinks etc. Just looking for a wee bit of local knowledge. [H] Cheers, Grant
st3ph3n Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Burrell collection. Science Centre. Tour of the city. Transport Museum (no scoobs I think). A nice walk round Glasgow Green. Or go up to Loch Lomond, find a quiet spot and get jiggy with it. []
wilky Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Drumchapel is nice, there are many social areas to sniff glue and score some skag. You often see many scoobies being driven like they have been stolen because they have in fact been stolen. Feel free to dismount and walk about, ensure you have a bottle of electric soup and a lead bar in a football sock.
G.T. Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 ill have you know i work on the outskirts of drumchapel mr wilkinson its a charming place that will be right what a dump for somthin to eat go on 5oclock.com for cheapfood merchant city is cool or the west end is cooll for pubs but what do i know bout glasgow im from ayshire
Gumball Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 a nice walk round glasgow green? as an east end lodger for many moons until last year...NO DONT DO THAT Take her to honeslty other than going for a spot of lunch in Princess square and then for a drive to bongo bongo...im lost
dougster Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 SEAFORCE After a trip out one of Seaforce's Ribs the little lady may need a wee cuddle before they set of to enjoy further sights!!!!!!!!!!! If he has some £££, then Cameron House Marina does great food and nice views over the Loch.
SEEVERS Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 F**k you lot.....the Drum is a quality place. Your mate should deffo visit the Drum with his new lemon curd (housing scheme patter) Del.
billyboy Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Rather than the Drum you could always bring her to Castle manky. We have McD's,curry carry oot shops, chip shops and of course the famous Cathkin Braes where you get a great view over Glasgow whilst getting it on in one of the layby's (there not called lay for nothing). Billy
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Byres Road in the West End has a goo mix of decent restaurants and bars. Ashton Lane might be worth a shout which is just off Byres Road. Cafe Antipasti is good for grub but you cannot book in advance. Cal
Gumball Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 I have had time to think about this one- She could be taken to Shettleston in the east end. That way she could savour the smell of gunpowder as she sips house red from her plastic beaker in the "Town Tavern". The Kareoake is blinding and the debate over whos go it is and what they are singing ususally raises the roof. Literally. After leaving the town taven, head east and stroll in the night air past the sunbed salons, curry houses, shoe emporiums and such like. Taking in the Menshys plastered over all the walls- YST (Young Shettleston Tigers), YSMS (young sandyhills mad squaad) and if there have been daring raids across the border you might see YSF (young springboig fleeto). great works of art. Im sure during your walk to get a taxi into the city center you will have the following- The wing mirrors kicked off your astra, the hubcaps stolen, seen someone get stabbed through the heart, have your dog threatened with a knife, have your woman asked who she is lookin it, and asked for money. One time some nugget even stopped my outside my house (in a polite manner/or it would have been KO time)if on the basis that he collected coppers, 2p's, 1p's etc oh and also 5p's that maybe i could help him save???? He would come round on a Tuesday i think it was and meet me and i would give him all the coins i had saved, cos it was his hobbie. Or when i woke up one morning and there was a guy sleeping in the "close". i asked hiom what the fack he was on? "Oh i just needed a sleep mate". "get out you prlck"came the response as i manhandled him into the strasssa So, yes. i am actually struggling to think of anywhere other than for a nice meal in the city, a few drinks and a visit to shady pines hotel for winstoning
weeb Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 take her to TJI fridays!! get a big steak then try all the mad cocktails then go to princes square to November for some pre club tunes then go to Cube and get jiggy with it to some rap and rnb tunes!!
NightOwl Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 As a wise man once said....'The two best things to come out of Glasgow are Billy Connolly and the M 8'! Lol. Only jesting.[] Mrs. NightOwl is always saying they have the best shops in Glasgow, so why not take her there, give her an open cheque book and she'll be well grateful![]
st3ph3n Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Baillieston is lovely this time of year. I'd go with Dougster's suggestion of the Marina though. You're gauranteed some action with that.
gus the bus Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Is there not an Old Firm football match on in Glasgow this weekend!?! I cannot think of a better place to be this weekend! Now that would be an entertaining trip to Glasgow for them! NOT![li] Anyway, like Cal I would say in and around Byres Rd has nice bars and eating places! Gus[]
wilky Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 On a sensible note, If your pal fancies a nice drive then a meal, the loch fyne Oyster bar at the head of loch Fyne is an hour away, secluded, chic and fantastic menu. Worth booking though, Zoe Ball got fecked off at the high port for not having a table and doing the celeb foot stamping routine. Callum W
craig mac Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Grant Go to somewhere nice instead of weegieville. Remember and sow razor blades into your lapels and axe in the back of you trousers! No seriously, i have had some great nights out down there in her majesty's hotel's warm and the cups of tea are great, beds leave a bit to be desired as do the room fragrances they use The bruises you are left with are are mostly on the body that way at least no one can see them. Queen street is normally where my escorts collect me as i step off the train and the taxi service even takes me back to catch the train at full time. Some great memories of Glasgow, Oh one i managed to get to a bar around sauchihall street called occh or something it was pretty cool, but again i was escorted to a her majesty's hotel. Glasgow is a great city, shopping, pubs, clubs pity the best one is gone now, Sub club was awesome when Harri and Dominic were there. Craig
dougster Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Harri and Dominic are still plying there trade at the Subbie!!!
craig mac Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 REALLY I thought it was closed down Doug? Oh well night out on the cards after op it is then Yee haa, Harri is a top bloke and i canna wait to see him again. Had the pleaseure of playing along side him there and in Aberdeen on more than one occasion... Top Class Craig
Gumball Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 yeah i suppose on a serious note as Wilky suggested, Loch Fyne blue oyster bar is the business. I have included a link to a very very nice place that i have been a few times in the last year http://www.loch-lomond.co.uk/ The place is obviously about 25-30mins away from Glasgow, secluded, chic, so this season and a must do for all young couples in Glasgow who can drive. Just make sure that the correct birds selected to take. I learned the hard way and spent 60-100quid on a lunatic[] The rooms are very good as well as the food. ensuite, jacuzzis and all that gear. 1. Glasgow shopping 2. drive to loch lomond 3. go to the lodge for a meal 4. stroll along the beach
st3ph3n Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 3. go to the lodge for a meal Orange or otherwise?
Fee Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Slightly off topic....but I just clicked on Grant's name accidentaly and realised you can get your profile up Nice interests by the way []
Gumball Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 the lodge on the loch stephen the lodge and the associated people with their flute bands and views isnt my idea of a day out with a bird or myself tbh. you have fun though[]
