st3ph3n Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Remember Craig has an STI. If memory serves me correct they have stronger links than the WRX has as standard. Your car is very similar to mine Gus, and I can wholeheartedly say that when the drop links were changed I noticed a big difference. There was less wayward movement and near-limit cornering was much improved. My turn in was also better, but I suspect that was down to geometery being properly set.
mazheriqbal_mohammed Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Hi mate Got me a set of the Whitelink front and rear droplinks put onto a MY00 Classic and really did notice a huge difference in the handling, both at low and higher speeds! Kept finiding proir to the placement of the droplinks if i turned into a corner too hard then i felt the steering give a little and then be back to normal (not always just when really going for it!). The 'give' i found lead to instability during turning and required minor adjustments to the turning angle quite frequently, with the droplinks in place this problem had been eliminated for me and and the car was more surefooted resulting in less correction during hard turns and greater overall speeds during turning I would recommend going for the droplinks and front and rear struts aswell, i found with this combination the turing capabilities were amazing even given the standard suspension!! Hope that is some use for you mate!

The whiteline ones are matched pairs and doing them seperately may result in unwanted under/oversteer. Of course if you could afford it you'd be better getting it all done as it'll save you having to get the geometry done twice. Ian

IanJ Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Teins seem to be the weapon of choice just now. I liked the progressiveness of the Eibachs (Although some folks have complained of loose fitting). Apparently the teins are just as progressive but are a better fit. As for shocks, if your's are in good nick and you don't plan on taking it to the extreme they'll be fine. Personally i found my eibachs on the standard KYB's a good compromise for road and track.
craig mac Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Frank I fitted teins to my STI and they are awesome the ride hieght and handling is fantastic It drops the car pretty low and i have been 4 up over rather bumpy roads and no bangs or bottoming out at all on the standard shocks They are top class and they were cheapest at Caskills Craig

It is not like a garage to put you off something you ask to get done is it? That was there view anyway m8 Craig I dont agree my standard links werent on the car long and i thought the handling was good before, but now with the solid links and a/l/k and prodrive alignment settings the car sticks to the road like glue and understeer is a thing of the past[]

des_curran Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Ye i think i will have to see Duncan about getting a set of Teins[] The car is handling great at the moment, Front and rear strut braces, Whiteline front and rear alloy links and a/l/k, Duncan sorted out the brakes too front and rear ebc drilled/grooved/vented discs, mintex 1155's front and rear, new fluid and goodridge braided hoses[] Next on the list is an AP organic clutch and lightened flywheel.

If we apply the patented Stephen Hynds school of thinking we can safely deduce that getting geometery done is a cost needed after MOST suspension mods. Therefore, as the wheels will all be off it is prime time to get some other work done. Saving money in the long run! (important for explaining the descision to her indoors) Do you require Anti-lift Kit? ARBs? Uprated bushes? I'd say yes for at least the first one.
