billyboy Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Well here we are in 2006 and guess what we are still posting complete crap on the forums. Who gives a damn if Ayrshire want to have a logo? That is up to them is it not? How do we expect to attract new members when they read this drivel and see us at each others throats? We all have different tastes but at the end of the day we all belong to the SIDC. Iam asking you all for the sake of the club to pack it in.If you dont like a particular event or what another region is doing its simple DONT GET INVOLVED R.O'S have a difficult enough job trying to please everyone without this childish bickering. Thanks Billy
G.T. Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 bickering what bickering i thought thats the way its meant to be
l5tuy Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Well pal i'm new on here and for one have to back this statement up 110%. I seen posts on other sites that had references to bickering on here and at first just thought it was lies however recently i have seen some evidence of this and think it's un-called for!!!!! If you don't have anything constructive to say, DON'T SAY IT!
andy Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Well said Billy. That's the precise reason I've said all along that www.scottishscoobies.co.uk should point to an information site and not directly to these forums. There's a lot of great banter and knowledge here, but there's a whole ton of crap too and it's not encouraging for new members (or potential members) to have their first experience of the SIDC being a bad one.
jamie_wood Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Each to their own I guess. But I wouldnt put anything more than the "SIDC" logo on my car and perhaps a small sticker with the user name and a Scottish flag beside it. Im not into the Scottish Scoobies sticker campaign. Im part of SIDC in my opinion
johns Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Everyone, we have been here before with sort of thing. It's not nice for those involved, and it's not nice for anyone looking in. There are many owners out there who look through these forums, but who never post, through fear of being picked on, aggressive "banter", in jokes that only a few who know the meaning of etc. We should try and make this a happy place to visit, where people don't dread what they are going to read next. We have an excellent reputaiton as a club that we should be trying to promote and build on. From now on, we are going to take a much stronger line with this sort of thing, which has included the tidying up of one recent thread. We won't make a big fuss of it - posts will simply be deleted to keep things clean and tidy. Does this mean that you have lost the right to free speech ? Not at all. Just keep things factual, on topic and keep any personal opinions, differences and insults to Private Mail, email etc. If anyone spots a thread that has gone too far, or is going that way, then please send an email to committee@sidc.co.uk and someone will have a look at it. Don't always expect an immediate response or a reply - we may just look at a thread and monitor it With this place being so popular these days, it's impossible for everyone to read every thread and some things can go un-noticed unless it's brought to our attention. Don't always assume that someone else has reported something also, or that we are already looking at things. The committee thanks everyone for their support and understanding John
dave_morgan Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 << Well said John >> I agree. Lets enjoy the sensible level of moderation we have on here, and not abuse it.
=Robbo= Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 The problem is we're using a posting forum to chat, we should be using an online chatroom technology such as as IRC. I've suggested this before. Robbo.

C'mon guys keep your ar*es clean and lets keep this a happy place.
=Robbo= Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Yeh PM's and MSN are ok for person to person, but you need IRC for a chatroom scenario. Robbo.
